Nose job and facelift order?

Question

I have been told if you want nose job and a facelift you should not do both at the same time. My nose would involve fixing.a small deviated septum, broad tip that has pointed down with time and decrease the width of my nostrils. Please advise does order of, which is done first matter?

Since rhinoplasty is the more delicate of the two surgeries, it should be performed first. If the facelift is performed first, it could lead to unnecessary nasal swelling that could be distracting for the rhinoplasty surgeon. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Rhinoplasty and facelift can certainly be performed at the same time. It benefits the patient because there is only one anesthesia and one recovery period. Be sure to see a facial specialist for consultation.

Hello and thank you for your question. Rhinoplasty and facelift can be performed safely at the same time. Alternatively, you could do these at separate times. Either one could be performed first. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

A rhinoplasty and facelift can be performed together. However, if the rhinoplasty is more extensive or the facelift is combined with other procedures, you might want to consider separating them. Since rhinoplasty is a more complex operation, it should take priority when deciding whether to combine it with a facelift or perform it separately.

You can certainly do both procedures  at the same setting.  However your selection of the rhinoplasty surgeon is most important. If a surgeon does  good noses they also do good faces. However not all facelift surgeons are good at noses

My question for you would be: What bothers you more? There isn't really a right or wrong answer.  Although it is possible to perform both procedures at the same operative setting, it is my preference to separate the procedures. This is especially true when other facial rejuvenation procedures such as fractionated CO2 laser resurfacing, blepharoplasty, etc are being performed simultaneously. A deviated septum, ptotic nasal tip and wide alar base are anatomic findings that require a certain degree of complexity in rhinoplasty, requiring 2-3 hours of operative time.

I would recommend the facelift first and then the rhinoplasty since there is risk of contamination from nasopharyngeal flora in the facelift portion.
