Could oral sex affect lip injection results?

Question

I gave husband oral sex approximately 27 hours after receiving lip injections and I'm worried that I may have affected the results. My lips appeared to have considerably gone down to almost their natural size directly after. Could this be due to oral sex or just swelling going down? I might add that I had very minimal swelling and no bruising. For future reference how long should one typically wait before giving oral sex after lip injections?

Bri123456.    I don't think oral sex ruined your results.  Swelling after lip Augmentation usually lasts 1-3 days, and I believe you simply experienced normal decreased swelling after your procedure. The primary reason fillers in the lip region does not last as long as other areas of the face is because the lips are pretty much in constant motion.  Talking, chewing and other normal movement of the mouth causes the filler to be absorbed faster.  I am sure your husband will be more than happy to fund another trip to your plastic surgeon for another treatment! It is unlikely that oral sex negatively impacted your results, but if you're concerned I recommend following up with your injector. It can take 1-2 weeks for final results with lip injections. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed and try a different technique next time. Best, Dr. Emer

Forceful squeezing of material can cause it to shift irrespective of how you forcefully squeeze the product including oral sex.  Generally I would recommend letting the product "set" for about a week before stressing it like this.  Presumably you and your partner can find some other activity during this time frame.  Thanks for the question.

Thank you for sharing your question.  Depending on the dermal filler used it is unlikely that oral sex caused displacement of your filler to alter your lip augmentation results.  I would recommend avoiding oral sex for 1-2 days after treatment, or until your lip swelling has resolved to avoid pain and irritation.  Hope this helps.

It is possible that oral sex can affect the results. There are numerous factors including duration and size to name a few. It's effect would not likely be a change in fullness, but rather a shift in the filler. I would think that the activity can lead to more swelling, not less. I would recommend not doing this for the first several days after lip injections so as to give time for the filler to settle and swelling to go down.

Likely what you are experiencing now is the resolution of the lip swelling. It is unlikely your activity contribute to the change.
