Question

In certain lights, the dent causes a terrible shadow and I look disfigured. Would aggressive resurfacing help correct the dent along with the wrinkles? In the meantime, as Restylane silk doesn't seem to last long anymore when injected directly into the lines, will injecting the lips and/or lip border assist with softening the lines as well? Thanks so much!

A combination approach will give the most improvement. I recommend Botox and/or fillers with lasers, microneedling/prp, rf treatments and ultherapy. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Thanks for sharing your question and photo. Filler injection can help correct volume loss around the mouth and soften perioral lines. If Restylane Silk is not lasting long enough, I would try Juvederm Volbella which is a newer filler based on the innovative Vycross technology by Allergan. You could also consider microneedling or laser resurfacing at the upper lip to improve the skin texture, soften the lines and stimulate collagen production. There are many ways to go about it. I would see an experienced physician for detailed in person evaluation.
