Due to asymmetric swelling contour asymmetries may exist after liposuction. These will slowly improve as healing continues.
At one week after liposuction there still can be a sizable amount of swelling which could account for the asymmetry. It may take a few months to see the final result of liposuction.
As with any surgery, time is needed to heal. I would never assume that something is uneven at 10 days post op. Lipo needs at least 4-6 weeks to heal from the dwelling. Then differences can be discussed. Plus hte difference you are concerned about is only minor based on your pictures and should even out, if possible, over time. We are never 10% symmetrical from side to side anyway.
Many people have asymmetries of their bodies, and your before photos may demonstrate this. This may or may not be correctable with liposuction. if your hip bones are the reason for this, it likely won't change. You just had surgery, so there is swelling still present. It may take 3-6 months before you see the final result. Discuss this with your surgeon
Everyone's hips are asymmetric do to the curvature of the spine and the height of each leg. The results look nice at this point, best to give it more time.
Asymmetry following liposuction is very common during the intital healing process. Swelling and fluid retention take several weeks to subside. I generally tell my patients that the final results can take several months.
The results of liposuction take weeks and weeks to really show through. You cannot judge your results until you give your body time to heal. Swelling will subside over 4-6 weeks and the final results won't be apparent until 6 months. Usually if there is a significant irregularity or asymmetry at 6 weeks it will likely not fully resolve, but at least wait 6 weeks before worrying.
Everyone's body is asymmetrical, much more so than most of us recognize. The left breast for most women and men sits 1/2 inch higher than the right breast. Most people's left eyebrow sits higher than the right brow. Our heart is on the left side. We have three lung lobes on the right and two on the left. Our internal organs are completely asymmetrical. Additionally, most people's hips are asymmetrical. My guess is you would see a substantial amount of asymmetry in your preoperative pictures if you look carefully. Your procedure may or may not have been performed asymmetrically. It's too early to tell or to make an assessment. Patients often have asymmetry after liposuction. Final results typically take at least three months. Also, know that when plastic surgeons purposely treat underlying asymmetries, new asymmetries that are less natural are often created. Follow up with your plastic surgeon and have him or her address your concerns. In assessing asymmetry, look for how thick your subcutaneous fat layers are in each area as opposed to how you look in the pictures. That is a much more accurate assessment of how well the procedure was performed in regards to symmetry.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
Hi there. Thanks for your question. You face is quite youthful and attractive. You do not need a plastic surgery solution for your concerns. General weight loss may have a positive impact on your area of concern. Good luck. Dr. Burnett
This is more common with energy based devices like vaser or laser and will get better with time. ultrasound, massage, and radiofreqency treatments help improve this more quickly. Best, Dr. emer.
Don't even think about inserting a needle into the operative site by yourself. Swelling is not available to aspiration and if you have a seroma which is very likely it should be handled by your surgeon.
