Is it normal to feel one saline implant? Not on the outside, I mean I can feel it wrinkle when I massage it.

Just my left side, I've noticed it feels like a bag wrinkling, but not the right. This happens when I massage it or move fast. There is no size difference that I can tell. I am 3 weeks post op with 300cc filled to 330cc. Thanks!

It is not uncommon to feel the 'wrinking' or 'ripple' of an implant in saline or silicone implants especially if you have very little breast tissue to begin with.

Thank you for your question.  This is relatively common for a saline implant.  They have a more firm and often wrinkling feel at the edges compared to a silicone implant.  Silicone will have a more natural feel.

This is a very common finding and is often present in many patients for a number of reasons. First of all, when you take something soft and stand it up on end it is normally going to have some collapse or give to it which can be felt as wrinkling. Most devices, especially the softer ones, will have some collapse and wrinkling in them. The ease with which someone can see or feel the wrinkles depends on how much breast tissue someone has to cover an implant and just what size implant a patient wants to have. There is often a trade-off between quantity and quality and as the implants get bigger the patients tissues get stretched thinner and it becomes easier to see or to feel the implants. The fact that you can feel one more easily than the other is not that unusual and may change over time. I would encourage you to check with your surgeon to make sure that everything seems normal for your body and the implants that you have.

Dear mccreamIt is not unusual to feel your implant when massaging your breast. If you are noticing any rapid changes and new issues, it is sometime helpful to see your surgeon to put your mind at ease. At 3 weeks post op, you will notice many changes and you will often reach a more stable point at about 3 months.

Thank you for your question.The short answer to your question is yes - it is not unusual to feel one saline implant more than the other.Assuming that you had the same implants put in on both sides, and they were both filled to the same amount, then the difference between the two sides can be attributed primarily in the differences between the two breasts before the surgery.  I tell my patients that their breasts are sisters - they're not twins.  They weren't identical before the surgery, and they won't be afterwards.  You probably didn't notice the asymmetries prior to your surgery because most patients don't pay attention to those minor differences.  After surgery, however, it's very common to notice asymmetry because you're concerned about how everything is healing and you're paying more attention to the little details than you have in the past.Ultimately, you'd be best served by seeing your plastic surgeon to see if there are any other concerns that need to be addressed.  And don't be afraid to ask for a second opinion if you're not fully reassured by your consultation - you should be comfortable with your plan going forward and with the surgeon who is helping you execute that plan.Best wishes.

It is not uncommon to feel one implant more than the other. You have two different breasts, and use your arms differently. Saline implants do have a more wrinkled and firmer feel. Should you have any concerns, please check with your surgeon.
