Dear ngaskill,I would suggest you to follow your surgeon's instructions and keep your wound clean. It would eventually heal but it will probably leave larger scar. After it is fully healed you can try to reduce the scar. Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery
Wounds occasionally open following a tummy tuck. They will heal with local wound care. However, I have never heard of the combination of bactroban and silvadine. Every surgeon has his own way to treat open wounds, and although I would treat it differently, presumably, your surgeon has had good results with the treatment, you have described.
Small wound openings like this are not uncommon at all and should respond well and quickly to local wound care. Your MD is correct here and you should follow his recommendations.Steven Turkeltaub, MD
Thank you for your question. All you need is local wound care as suggested by your PS . Please follow instructions from your PS and it will heal by itself.
Thank you for your photo and question. I feel your PS instruction are appropriate. Your body will heal this on its own and it shouldn't effect you overall results. Best Wishes!
It is not uncommon for a wound to open a small amount after surgery. I generally prefer to allow them to heal on their own to avoid trapping infection inside. Be sure to follow your surgeon's advice. If the scar doesn't look great once it heals it can always be easily revised once healed fully.
Thank you for your question. At five weeks, your incisions should be healed by now. I would consult with your surgeon about what to do with the open wound. I would not steri-strip or suture it as those steps will not work. Your best option is to continue with local wound care (with silvadene cream twice daily) and allow the incision to heal on its own. Once everything has healed, I would allow the scar to settle for few months and then assess to see if a scar revision is needed. But again, I would consult with your surgeon as he (or she) will be your best source of information. Thank you and good luck.
Having pain or significant discomfort 6 weeks after surgery is not uncommon at all. There are a few reasons that this occurs which have nothing to do with internal bleeding. In fact, it would be rare for such bleeding to occur at this point in time.Nevertheless, you should contact your plastic ...
This case presents many issues. First, the initial posts concerning the wound edge issues and posted photos appeared as a very minor healing issue. But seeing the results from a combination of events the skin surface issues hid the deeper fat necrosis problems. Now you have a full thickness open...
I am not aware of any way the tummy tuck would tighten the vaginal area. The incision is placed low because it may pull the skin over the mons up slightly.
