Can I nurse a week after getting Botox?

I stopped breastfeeding my daughter 10 days ago. 3 days later I got 15 units of Botox. My milk has come back in full force. I have had to pump to ease the pain. Can I give this milk to my 1 year old or is it too risky one week later?

currently no scientific studies that examine the effects of breastfeeding after
getting BOTOX®. Although there is no evidence that nursing after getting BOTOX®
treatments would have any negative effects on you or your baby, it’s better to
be safe and refrain from doing so.

You should not breast feed while getting Botox injections. You should wait until you are no longer breast feeding. I highly recommend that you speak with your doctor to confirm this.

question..It is not recommended to receive botox injections while pregnant or still breastfeeding. The milk should not be given to your child. To be sure, see two
or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to
make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have
treatment.

It is not advised to breastfeed while using Botox.  I would not use milk produced within 3-6 months of receiving Botox.  There is no science to prove this is dangerous but I would not recommend taking a chance.

Thank you for your excellent question.  This is a common question asked of recently pregnant and lactating mothers.  There is no clear literature that states that it is unsafe, but being conservative, I would not give the milk to your daughter.  Why risk anything?  As a policy, I don't administer Botox to patients who are/think they are pregnant, or if they are lactating/breastfeeding.

Unfortunately, there are no current studies about breastfeeding and Botox, therefore we do not know if combining the two is entirely safe. Until further studies are done, it’s best to avoid Botox if you are pregnant or still breastfeeding.

I understand your concern. There are no studies that show the amount of botulinum toxin in breast milk after botox. I would toss your breast milk. The question becomes, when to start breastfeeding again. Common practice is not to inject women that are pregnant or  breast-feeding.

You should pump and toss your milk. It is not advised to breastfeed when you have Botox in your system. You should not have received Botox if you were planning to still breastfeed at all. While there is no proof that Botox becomes systemic and goes into the milk, it is just 100% not advised to breastfeed and have Botox. Your injecting physician should have discussed this with you prior to treatment. :("This
