Can I have Botox injections or fillers or will this show up in the blood or urine tests??

Question

I participate in medical studies that prohibit volunteers from using prescription and over the counter medication. when I screen for these studies, they take blood and urine tests to determine what drugs are in m body. If they do find any drugs in my blood or urine tests, I will not qualify for the study and can be banned from screening future studies.

I am not aware of any blood test for these injectables. That said, you should contact the study center to be certain it will not affect their results in any way; this would depend on the drug being studied.  If you have a little bit of facial swelling the day of/after fillers, the study evaluator might take note and might otherwise be concerned this is a reaction to the study drug. You are unlikely to have the substances show up in your blood or urine.  However, I would advise against having either treatment without discussing it with the study administrator.  What you are considering may harm the integrity of the study, and checking with the study administrator is the most morally responsible thing to do.best regards

To my knowledge, there are no urine, blood, sweat or other tests to determine if you have been treated with Botox or fillers.  Enjoy your treatment abs stay skintastic.

Thank you for your question.Just because you are getting a blood test does not mean that they test for everything.As far as I know, they do not test for Botox for collagen byproducts or hyaluronic acid byproducts.Best,Dr. Karamanoukian

That is a great question.  Never been asked that.  Fillers such as Perlane and Juvadem are Hyauronic Acid.   This jelly like substance should not pose a problem.  In fact we all have Hyauronic Acid in our joints Botox should not make it's way to the bloodstream unless  it was injected in a vein.    The amounts are so small that I would suspect it would not show in a urine test.    That being said-  check with your study administrator.   But you should be able to look as good as you would like but still best to run it by them.
