Restylane Defyne or Voluma for hallow temples?

I workout a lot and have very little body fat. I have noticed my temples look very sunken in. Which filler would be best for my temples? Is Restylane Defyne thick enough? I have read that Voluma can look lumpy in people who are thin.

For hollow temples, I prefer to use Sculptra because it has the most volume restoration and it has one of the longest duration.  However, it will take 4-6 months to show and it may take 1-3 treatments depending on the degree of hollowness.  If you are not willing to be patient, then this will not be the product.If you want instant gratification, then Radiesse would be more efficient than Voluma or Restylane Defyne.  It is thicker than HA fillers which provides more lifting and has 50% more in each syringe.If you prefer an HA (hylaronic acid) filler then I would choose Restylane Lyft (better lift than Defyne) or Voluma (more expensive but will last longer). If fillers are done correctly, then there should be no lumpiness.  The lumpiness is a result of technique error.

I do fat injections, but if someone is not willing, Radiesse with Sculptra is much better than either alone for significant changes. You can try Juvederm Ultra Plus or Lyft but they require more tubes for improvement. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer.

Hollow temples are the most commonly overlooked area. As we age subcutaneous tissue is lost leaving a “skeletal-like” appearance. To restore this we inject a Hyaluronic-Acid based filler known as Voluma XC.
Voluma XC is indicated to treat (though not FDA approved for temples), deep volume deficiency. Typically we inject half a syringe in each temple, and have the patient return in 2 weeks if more volume is desired. Always discuss possible side-effect with your Board Certified Dermatologist or Expert Injector.

the choice is one of many that should be decided between the injector and the patient.
sculptra is very good but has its issues- you may need several sessions and need to massage often and takes time to show the fill.
bellafill is more expensive, may need more than one treatment but may last as long as 5 years.
the HAs - Voluma, refyne, defyne etc are pretty much the same in this area
radiesse is another that works well and has longevity.\

My preferred filler for the temporal fossa is Sculptra which is a collagen stimulating filler. With regards to hyaluronic acid based fillers for the temples, I prefer to use Restylane. The injections should be placed deep on bone to avoid important blood vessels in the temples.

The temples are one of the first places we lose fat. If you are a thin person, this is even more so. Whereas fillers can be nice in the temples, I would encourage you to consider Sculptra. This is more a global approach to the aging face and will work around the perimeter of the face, keeping everything high and tight, and the temples is a place we can build structure with sculptra. It is an injectable that encourages your own body to create collagen. Over time, you will see the collagen build, and the hollow areas fill out in a more natural, gradual, and long lasting way.
