Just over one month since surgery. There is an odd feeling of tightness of the lower lid a the location of the ectropion; its almost as if there is something attached (internally) that is preventing the lid from coming up and closing properly at that specific spot. If massage is necessary, can you please explain how to do it properly. I have scoured the internet but have found very little on how to do it and how long I should do it. Many thanks in advance!
Answer: You may just get away with this...! In the primary position, the eyes don't look too bad. The left is retracted, but its not terrible. Many of the photos you have sent in are with the eye looking in the upward direction and this always makes the retraction look worse so just focus on the appearance of looking ahead. In my experience, this amount of retraction will usually settle with massage, so do give it some time.

Answer: Ectropion after lower lid blepharoplasty The feeling you have is typical. At one month there is considerable hope that with time it will correct on its own. You need to wait a year for the results to stabilize. Massage in which gentle but firm upward traction on the lower eyelid several times a day can be useful. Consult with your surgeon. It is a correctible problem with revisional surgery if it does not resolve.

Answer: Ectropion after lower blepharoplasty I am not if the ectropion will resolve but need to give it about 3 months. Do squinting eye exercises and massaging eyelid to hopefully help. If the ectropion remains, revision eyelid surgery is possible to restore the eyelid in normal position.

Answer: Ectropion Sorry to hear about your complication. It is still relatively early in the healing process and your condition is likely to improve over time. There are many factors that can lead to postoperative ectropion. You seem to be young so I’m speculating that your lower lid tone was good prior to the surgery. Sometimes the edema and induration from the ongoing healing can cause some stiffness of the lower eyelid tissue. This tends to resolve over time. Sometimes a low dose steroid injection can help the process. Massaging has also been reported as helpful. This can be done by gently pushing upward on the lower lid with your fingers pressed together as you close the eyes very tightly. Hold the position there for several seconds and repeat the process several times throughout the day. If the condition is caused by excess skin resection or injury to the underlying muscle, revision surgery is sometimes indicated. At this point I would encourage you to remain in close contact with her surgeon and try conservative measures to see if the situation will resolve. If you’re having problems with your eyes drying out, there are ointments and drops that can be used. Best wishes to you.

Answer: Ectropion Maybe you are going to need a surgical correction. The ectropion is present almost always with external blepharoplasty at the first weeks, while the muscle takes its normal function, but with a month, maybe it is not going to go better byself
