Hello! I am considering lipo with a board certified surgeon, but wondering how often people either need to come in for revisions OR how often people are left with hard lumps that do not resolve after 6+ months. I am mainly worried about indents, and uneven/ bumpy skin
Answer: Chances of botched liposuction: how often do people either need to come in for revisions OR are left with hard lumps? Thank you for your questions. While there is no published rate for "botched" liposuction, there is published data on complications from this procedure. Contour deformities are the most common complication and can happen in 10-20% of cases depending on what literature you read and how you define "contour deformity." Most of these are relatively minor. The best thing you can do is make sure you are seeing a plastic surgeon who is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. If you do not have that, I would start over.Hope this helps!

Answer: Chances of botched liposuction: how often do people either need to come in for revisions OR are left with hard lumps? Thank you for your question. There's no simple answer to this due to the many variables. First, surgeon related issues, how well trained your surgeon is in liposuction, body sculpting, technique he/she uses, understanding the underlying static and dynamic muscle anatomy, artistic "eye". Second, patient related issues, does the patient have good elastic skin, realistic expectations, is interested in fat reduction only or sculpting, age, postoperative care and patient compliance, previous liposuction or non-surgical fat melting, etc.See a board certified plastic surgeon experienced in advanced body sculpting techniques for an in person consultation/evaluation. Good luck.

Answer: Uneven after liposuction Dear jennj1989,While there is always a chance for contour irregularities with liposuction, someone who takes their time and uses the appropriate sized cannulas should give you a superb result.I have all my patients wear compression garments and I use multiple sized cannulas to feather out the result.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: Liposuction Outcome--VASER HI DEF 4D Liposculpture, ThermiRF, fat grafting I'm not sure of the statistics for this. However, you'll want to see a board certified doctor with skill, expertise, and the best techniques with liposuction. Look at doctors who do live filmings, teachings, and have good before and after photos on social media sites! For best results, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermiRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hi definition physique expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Chances of botched liposuction: how often do people either need to come in for revisions OR are left with hard lumps? While there is always a chance revisions may be necessary after any surgical procedure to optimize results, that is really not common. Some types of liposuction carry more risk than others so do your research and choose your surgeon carefully.
