This is an answer to the Real Self question about volumes of fat taken from different areas. In general, the amount of fat taken from the neck is smaller because most double chins are smaller than, let's say, a pot, or a love handle, or saddle bag. But, some necks are quite voluminous and bowl-shaped, and so I would say the range of fat reduction, and the milliliters of fat removed from the neck, in my practice, after 22 years, is somewhere between 10 and 15 cc's of fat. That would be an average neck. I've taken as much as 20 to 25, but that's for a very fatty neck. You want to make sure you're using thermal contraction liposuction technology like Neck TITE, like BodyTite, like Smartlipo, because when you remove that much fat, the skin of the neck needs to contract. When you look at body areas, the volume is much greater, of course. The average tummy volume can be anywhere from 800 cc's to two liters of fat. The average hip, 400 to 800 cc's. Bra line 150 to 200 cc's. The outer thigh, 150 to 200 cc's. Inner thigh about a hundred cc's. Inner knee, about 50 to 100 cc's. These are the average amounts of the lower body. The arm, upper arm, and the bat wing, about 100 to 200. Sometimes as high as 500 cc's. The more fat you take, the more you need to make sure you get good skin contraction. The more likely you need technology like BodyTite. And so, after 22 years of liposuction, there are some average volumes that we remove from different areas of the body. As an experienced liposuction surgeon, I am always going to select the technology that matched the best skin tone, and contraction, for the fat that we remove to ensure that you get the best possible result. Always seek out the expertise and consultation of a Board-certified plastic surgeon before proceeding, and it should have a very positive impact on your contour shape, and self-image.
