The volume of fat removed from neck liposuction is not very large, however the effects of neck liposuction can be dramatic. In an average patient, 25-100 mL are removed.
There is no scientifically correct answer to your question (depends on patient population, technique, wetting solution), but 50 ml of fat would not be far off. Part of the effect of neck liposuction arises from the injury caused to the unique muscle (platysma) under the neck skin. The injury causes contraction and an improved neck contour even when little fat is removed.
I think whats important for neck liposuction is making sure you are a good candidate for the procedure, meaning making sure your chin is in a good position and you have more fat than skin. What I mean by this is you dont want to be left with extra loose hanging skin. I prefer 3 incisions for neck liposuction and use vaser energy to melt the fat, power lipo to remove it and use plasma energy to tighten the skin
Hello and thank you for your question. Thebest advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. The amount of fat removed truly depends on your anatomy. Make sure you specifically lookat before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgeryperformed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The mostimportant aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommendthat you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon whocan evaluate you in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. anaks. Less than you think. Depending on the amount of fat in the neck, volume of fat removed is less than most people think. However, liposuction of the neck removes fat from the deeper layer and then the skin re-drapes along the neck both laterally and below the chin to achieve the desired result. The change can be dramatic. In my opinion it is a better option then Kybella, because the final result is achieved much sooner because Kybella may take two or three sessions and then time for the fat to be dissolved. Be certain to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon. Good luck.
Neck Liposuction is a good procedure in a patient with good skin tone, where one can expect the skin to retract after decreasing it's volume. The amount of fat removed depends on the technique used and the amount of tumescent fluid used. depending on the patient 25cc to 100cc is within the usual range of removal.
This is an answer to the Real Self question about volumes of fat taken from different areas. In general, the amount of fat taken from the neck is smaller because most double chins are smaller than, let's say, a pot, or a love handle, or saddle bag. But, some necks are quite voluminous and bowl-shaped, and so I would say the range of fat reduction, and the milliliters of fat removed from the neck, in my practice, after 22 years, is somewhere between 10 and 15 cc's of fat. That would be an average neck. I've taken as much as 20 to 25, but that's for a very fatty neck. You want to make sure you're using thermal contraction liposuction technology like Neck TITE, like BodyTite, like Smartlipo, because when you remove that much fat, the skin of the neck needs to contract. When you look at body areas, the volume is much greater, of course. The average tummy volume can be anywhere from 800 cc's to two liters of fat. The average hip, 400 to 800 cc's. Bra line 150 to 200 cc's. The outer thigh, 150 to 200 cc's. Inner thigh about a hundred cc's. Inner knee, about 50 to 100 cc's. These are the average amounts of the lower body. The arm, upper arm, and the bat wing, about 100 to 200. Sometimes as high as 500 cc's. The more fat you take, the more you need to make sure you get good skin contraction. The more likely you need technology like BodyTite. And so, after 22 years of liposuction, there are some average volumes that we remove from different areas of the body. As an experienced liposuction surgeon, I am always going to select the technology that matched the best skin tone, and contraction, for the fat that we remove to ensure that you get the best possible result. Always seek out the expertise and consultation of a Board-certified plastic surgeon before proceeding, and it should have a very positive impact on your contour shape, and self-image.
