I have a single eyelid and they won’t open enough unless I raise my eyebrows and crease my forehead. I was wondering if I can just get ptosis to remove excess fat and tighten muscle to make my eyes open more without any effort of raising my eyebrows and also not create any crease aka double eyelid because when I looked at some results, the after pic is always with double eyelid and I prefer single eyelids.
Answer: Ptosis repair without double eyelid It can probably be done but I've almost always combined it with double eyelid surgery. There's going to be some skin overhang that will still interfere with your upper visual field, which is why some skin is usually removed, or at least a double eyelid fold placed to drape the skin out of the way.

Answer: Blepharoplasty different than ptosis surgery Yes and no. It really depends on your anatomy and eyelid position, etc, as determined during consultation. But if you have differentiate between eyelid position or ptosis vs. excess upper eyelid skin or fat. First requires ptosis surgery and second requires blepharoplasty.

Answer: Good question with a complicated answer. A detailed examination of your eyelids would answer this question. The ability to accomplish this very much depends on details of your eyelid. The double fold is created with a new crease is made and the eyelid platform skin adheres to the underlying layers like the levator aponeurosis, the tendon of the muscle that opens the eyelid. Some individuals with a single eyelid actually have a very low upper eyelid crease that is covered by the eyelid fold. Entering the eyelid at this level tends to preserve this relationship. Removal of excess fat will affect the way the eyelid folds. Whether you are looking to preserve a single fold or make a double fold, preserving fat volume in these eyelids is very important. Regarding the ptosis repair there is a posterior approach bit it is not always right for every eyelid. A personal consultation is necessary to determine what the best approach for your concerns.

Answer: Ptosis surgery keeping the skin incision very low and hidden Thanks for the question about a challenging area ptosis surgery. Essentially probably yes, you can avoid getting a visible double eyelid, however, the oculoplastic surgeon has to carefully assess you with photos and eyelid measurements and advise as there are different types of ptosis surgery available. The surgery chosen will depend largely on the findings of where your eyelid lifting muscle pull currently is and how strong the pull is. This is the elevator muscle and it has to me measured. Sometimes it is possible to do the ptosis surgery through a low skin crease around 2 too 3 mm and this remains soft and effectively hidden once healed as there is a soft fold over it once the eyelid is raised by the ptosis surgery. Surgery is done under local anaesthetic as that gives full co-operation and helps localise the muscle more easily. How much or whether you require blepharoplasty at the same time or later is also assessed by the oculoplastic surgeon. The ptosis surgery is the main operation to lift the drooping eyelids.
