How long does it really take for fat to transfer from lipo to another area?

I had lipo 360 and fat transfer to my "hip dips" one month tommorow. They are completely there still but i noticed they transferred some fat right on my hip bones making a more shaped figure BUT i HATE the hip dips and you can see them so much. My surgeon and his team keep saying it takes months for the fat to to go down and settle in that area . Is this true?? Because i have seen other people fresh out of surgery and have not heard of them waiting for fat to arrive somewhere

Hello,Contour should be very good even with swelling. If your doctor isn't an ABPS certified/ASAPS member surgeon who specializes in body contouring, you may want to get a few second opinions.  Your description was confusing and examination is really what is necessary. Best of luck!

After surgery about half of the transferred fat will be reabsorbed by the body. This process takes 1-2 months, so I would continue to be patient to judge your final results. The fat doesn't move after the procedure, so you're not waiting for it to settle and fill in the hip dips. Hip dips should be filled in at the time of surgery.

The buttock shape changes over 3 months. The compression garments help to shape the waist and are commonly recommended.  The "hip dip" doesn't always go away when you do fat transfer. The anatomy of the buttock in some patients will not allow the "dip" to be expanded with fat.

It's true but it takes time for the final results after both liposuction and fat transfer.
That said the greatest changes happen within the first six weeks.
After that the changes are very gradual.
Results were close to final by two months and very very close to final at three months.
If someone is really unhappy at four weeks it's unlikely they'll be happy with your final results

It can take 6 to 12 weeks to see the  longer term results from both the areas of liposuction and the areas of fat transfer.  Wearing a compression garment and performing massage to the areas can help speed the process.  Check with your surgeon for recommendations in your case.  Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.
