I am 6 days post-op, replaced 300cc with 450cc, will they get bigger as they settle? (Photos)

Hi replaced 14 year old 300cc's unders with 450cc's unders. Smooth silicone. What size cup will I likely be? I'm hoping a D as I was a deflated C after two kids :( I'm 171m tall and weigh 61kg's. Will try still get bigger as they settle? One also seems higher than the other?

Hello,No one can tell you what cup size you'll be, you'll have to wait and see.  This is because there is no correlation between bra size and implant volume. Your new implants are at different vertical positions (one is higher than the other) because that was the case with your original implants, and it appears nothing was done to remedy that. Which brings me to the last point, which is you really don't want these implants to settle anymore; based on the position of your incisions your implants are already very low in their pockets. Congratulations on your surgery. Your breast size should increase by about 1 cup size. The implants do appear larger as they settle. As they settle the volume moves from the top to the bottom of your breasts giving a more rounded and full appearance. It's normal for implants to settle at different rates. Sometimes one can appear slightly higher than the other. Their concerns contact your surgeon. Make sure to follow your surgeon's postoperative instructions closely.

What I tell my patients is that typically going up 150cc will add about a 1/2 cup size to 1 cup size in volume, but this is variable depending on the chest wall diameter.  Your breasts will not "get bigger" as the implants settle, but sometimes the lower pole will round out more, and in some peoples opinion this gives an illusion of a larger breast.  I try to size with my patients before finalizing their implant choice so that there are no disappointments.  I would recommend waiting 6 months before making any final critiques of your breasts, then discuss with your surgeon if your wishes were not met, you may need a revision surgery.  Good luck!

If it was a simple swap and not much work was done with the capsule, there may not be much "dropping".  It just depends what was done during the surgery.As far as implant sizing goes, it is difficult to say at this point what cup size you will be, but you will be bigger for sure from what you have before, as 150cc upsizing should show a significant difference from before.As far as one being higher than the other, it does appear in your preop photo that the one side is higher than the other as the upper pole is fuller.  This may or may not change over time, again depending on what was done at the time of surgery.At this point it is best to wait it out and see how things look like when you are 4-6 months post surgery.Hope that helps.

Thank you for your pictures and questions. As the implants settle, there will be a redistribution of the implant volume and the shape and appearance will change. I think you will likely be happy with the results but you need to just be patient and follow the instructions of your surgeon. As for size, every bra maker is different, so your size will depend on where you shop. Wait for the things to heal and then go get measured.Best of luck!

Dear bettyboop999,dropping of implants is part of the healing process and this occurs after the tissues surrounding the implants slowly relax, allowing the implants to settle into their final position. It can take about four to six months for the implant to drop down to their final position.I understand that you are worried about the size of your breasts. However, you are still in the early phase of the recovery period. Please do allow some time for the healing process to occur. Much will depend on exactly what was done during the procedure.  "Dropping and fluffing" (a process wherein breasts may appear to be larger as breast implant "settle") may not necessarily occur with revisionary breast surgery. Cup sizes cannot be predicted; as you know, cup sizes will vary from one manufacturer to another. At this point, I would suggest: rest, patience and close follow up with your plastic surgeon who will be your best resource when it comes to accurate assessment of concerns, advice,  and (hopefully) meaningful reassurance. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be pleased with long-term.

You need to realize that they won't get bigger, just smaller, also you didn't get much medial pole filling so you may need a pocket adjustment to make your breasts rounder.
