Bell's palsy and Botox - is it safe? (photo)

Botox has not been identified as a possible cause of Bells Palsy, and shouldn’t re-trigger your initial symptoms. Botox is commonly utilized to treat asymmetry following Bells Palsy. Botox use at this stage should be considered safe. Thank you for your question. 

It is safe to have botox treatments when you have Bell's Palsy.  The effects of botox wear off in 3 months however if you are concerned with your results you need to follow up with your provider.

Thanks for the question and sorry to hear that you've had bad experience.
The amount and the placement of Botox is being determined by exam, if a muscle is weak, the physician will/should inject less. 
Also if there is any remnant of the Bell's palsy, there are ways to inject Botox asymmetrically so face looks more symmetric.

situation. Botox is a purified protein used to address wrinkles associated with
facial expression. It is important to understand that even if a Botox treatment is performed correctly, there is a risk that the product will spread to nearby muscles and relax those muscles as well. Botox can be used in the chin to address dimples that may appear there. If it spreads to adjacent muscles it can lead to a temporary asymmetric smile. Having a history of Bell's palsy is not a contraindication to receiving Botox. Please consult with a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!

This should not be a difficulty and can be corrected with correct injection of the Botox. Be sure you see an experienced and board xcertified dermatologist

It is safe to receive Botox after Bell's Palsy. However, if the Bell's Palsy has left the facial muscles permanently weaker, you could expect an exaggerated response from the Botox. Show your provider the photos of your face, and modify the next Botox treatment plan accordingly.

Botox is safe for use in Bells Palsy and helps balance those afflicted.Notify your experienced injector as you could have some residual weakness that would magnify the Botox results.

use of Botox is safe in patients with history of Bell's palsy, however your treating physician should know this fact ahead of time and pay more attention to the detailed anatomy of your face. I would still have your physician examine you now that you had your Botox treatment and determine if it is an improper treatment technique that was being used .
