How many units of Botox do people usually get? The pricing is confusing.

The cost for botox to the doctor is about $6.5 per unit.  No one is making a living loosing money on the cost of botox.  So if you see practices that are marketing botox for say $8 per unit or even $11 per unit, ask yourself who is doing the service.  Are you actually getting a full unit of Botox when you pay for a unit at these places?  These are not practices with an experienced doctor doing treatment.  Does it make a difference? You bet it makes a difference.  For example, I have a patented cosmetic botulinum toxin service called the Microdroplet Lift that lifts the brow, softens the resting eyebrow pinch all without freezing the forehead. The typical patient gets 33 units of Botox or Xeomin, or about 100 units of Dysport.  I do the service myself - "no nurses or staff" do the treatment.  I don't make you practice on yourself - how are you supposed to know how much botox you need and where it should go?  

The price of Botox operation depends on several factors such as the difficulty of your case and your request for your operation area.

It is one of those treatments that unfortunately has become a commodity and it really requires a bit more of an artistic finesse approach in my mind.

Most patients may need 25-40 units of Botox or equivalent in Dysport. There are two ways to charge for Dysport/Botox. In our office we charge based on the unit and the cost is very clear and transparent. The cost is 10 per unit of Botox and the patient should have good understanding of the areas that need to be treated. In our office, we educate each patient on  where and why each area needs how many unit of Botox.

Botox is usually priced per unit or per area; I think most injectors are charging per unit of Botox today. The cost will vary with the area or city that you reside. Age is a factor in the amount of units of Botox that are necessary to achieve the desired result. Younger patients generally require less Botox. The range of Botox units can be anywhere from 10-60 units.  

The cost for a patient for Botox generally is factored in cost per unit.  This price will vary and range from $10-$16 per unit.  the injector will determine how many units you would need based on location and the strength of the muscles being treated as well as the effect that they want to achieve.
