How can I treat my under eye bags that sit below my eye area and right on the cheek bone. I’m 23 I’ve tried changing sleep patterns, cutting alcohol/sodium and take anti histamines and nothing will help. What is causing this and how do I treat it?
Answer: Dark Circles/Eye Bags/Wrinkles -- Fillers (Belotero, Juvederm Volbella); Lasers (Fraxel/CO2); Renuvion; Microneedling/PRP; Peels Thank you for your question. There are many things you can do to treat under eye bags, but a combination approach with nonsurgical treatments would give the most improvement: fillers (Belotero, Juvederm Volbella), lasers (Fraxel/CO2), Renuvion (J-Plasma), microneedling/PRP, Cosmelan peels and stem cells. A surgical option to remove skin and/or fat might be the best solution long-term. I suggest getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist to see what is best for you and your goals. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Malar bags are caused by many small pockets of fluid that are difficult to treat, but the appearance can be improved with filler Thank you for your question. You are asking how to treat under eye bags, malar festoons, and cheek volume loss at the young age of 23. You’ve tried antihistamines, cutting back on alcohol and sodium, and improving sleep patterns, but say nothing is helping you. I can certainly guide you in the absence of a physical exam, and with just your photos for reference. I’m Dr. Amiya Prasad. I’m a Board Certified Cosmetic Surgeon and Fellowship-trained Oculoplastic Surgeon. I’ve been in practice in Manhattan and Long Island for over 20 years. I do treat eye bags, festoons, and cheek volume loss every day in my practice. From the picture you submitted, it is difficult to see if you have under eye bags, but a festoon, or malar edema can be seen. Malar festoons are caused by small, multiple pockets of fluid, which make them difficult to treat. A cause of malar bags that you didn’t mention is smoking, but I’m not aware if you are a smoker. It is possible to blend the appearance of malar festoons and treat cheek volume loss at the same with cheek filler placed at the bone level with a technique called Structural Volumizing. However, at age 23, you shouldn’t be experiencing significant cheek volume loss due to aging. More severe malar bags that are accompanied by under eye bags can be treated with surgery, but I would not advise it at your age and severity, and it’s unclear from your picture if you have under eye bags. Treating festoons can be difficult, but they can be improved. I suggest you meet with doctors who specialize in the lower eyelids and cheek area for a proper physical exam and diagnosis before more specific recommendations can be made. I hope you found this information helpful. Thank you for your question.

Answer: Under Eye Bag and Loss of Volume in the cheeks The cause of your undereye bags cannot be confirmed through a photograph, you’ll need to meet with a board certified plastic surgeon for an in-person consultation and evaluation. There are non -surgical options available to treat the appearance of under eye bags and loss of volume in the cheeks that you mentioned. There are dermal fillers that are specially formulated for injection into that very delicate eye area as well as other fillers that add the volume to the cheeks to smoothen out the appearance of any indents or hollowness. A qualified injector can provide you with options and develop a treatment plan with you.

Answer: Treating Eye Bags? Fillers or surgery Under eye bags can be permanently corrected with surgery or temporarily camouflaged with fillers (Restylane, Belotero, Volbella). There are great non-surgical options to fill in under eye depressions and hollowness. Using dermal fillers, a liquid eye-lift can be performed. A dermal filler such as Restylane would be placed in the cheek and tear trough to hide the depression or bag underneath your eye. Surgery would require a fat-repositioning lower lid blepharoplasty. In this surgical procedure, fat from the eye area is moved into the tear trough depression filling the actual depression. I hope this helps!
