I’ve had one labiaplasty procedure done. I wouldn’t say it’s botched but it’s certainly not desireable. I feel nervous to see the same surgeon again in case there’s no going back afterwards if it’s ‘wrong’ again. I can’t tell if it’s my intuition or nerves that have made me reschedule my surgery date for almost a year. I’ve had 2 consults with the surgeon again and left feeling confident but the more I sit on it the more worried I feel that it may go sour again. What do I do?
Answer: Revision labiaplasty Hello , The timing of your labiaplasty surgery is important for deciding on a second revision surgery. In my opinion, giving it at least six months is correct. It seems right for you to get an opinion from another surgeon. You may not have been able to adequately explain what you wanted, or your surgeon may not have been able to adequately explain the procedure to you. That's why you may not get a completely satisfactory result. If the labia minora are not reduced too much, you will benefit from revision surgery.

Answer: Same surgeon for revision Thank you for your questionAny surgery can have complications and surgeons are typically trained in correcting them. But,If you are not confident in your surgeon I would be reluctant in going back. Investigate other skilled surgeons and get their opinions what can be done and how they would approach the correction. You really need to do your homework . Review before and after photos and patient reviews. Your worry is telling you something. Be confident before going forward.

Answer: Should I see the same surgeon for my revision labiaplasty? Hello, Thank you for the question. I would certainly discuss your questions and concerns with your Plastic Surgeon. You can also seek a second opinion and in-person consultation with another board-certified Plastic Surgeon specializing in labiaplasty procedures. In addition, I typically recommend waiting full year to perform revision surgery. I hope this helps.Best regards, Dr. Karanetz Dr. Irena KaranetzFellowship-TrainedBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Should I see the same surgeon fro my revision labiaplasty? HI lily, There is nothing wrong with seeing your former surgeon for a revision. If you are still having doubts, perhaps it is not a bad idea to seek consultations with 1 or 2 other surgeons to see if they agree with your former surgeon's recommendations. Hope this helps a bit, Best, Dr Christine Rodgers
