Should I see the same surgeon for my revision labiaplasty?

Investigate other skilled surgeons and get their opinions what can be done and how they would approach the correction. You really need to do your homework . Review before and after photos and patient reviews. Your worry is telling you something. Be confident before going forward.

Thank you for your question. Most surgeons will offer revision if there is something you are unhappy with regarding your original surgery with them. For instance, our practice office free revisions in the first year if patients are unhappy with the results. I think the decision regarding whether you go back to your original surgeon is a completely personal one. If you have confidence in your surgeon and the revision area was related to something like incisional breakdown or even asymmetry, these are things that can occur post procedure regardless of the surgeon you go to initially. However, if you do not feel comfortable going back to your original surgeon, then I would recommend seeking a second opinion. After seeing another surgeon you may feel more confident with your original surgeon but you can make that decision at that time. Ultimately, you want to feel confident and comfortable with your surgeon so if your gut is telling you otherwise, then follow that.

Hello , The timing of your labiaplasty surgery is important for deciding on a second revision surgery. In my opinion, giving it at least six months is correct. It seems right for you to get an opinion from another surgeon. You may not have been able to adequately explain what you wanted, or your surgeon may not have been able to adequately explain the procedure to you. That's why you may not get a completely satisfactory result.If the labia minora are not reduced too much, you will benefit from revision surgery.

I would certainly discuss your questions and concerns with your Plastic Surgeon.
You can also seek a second opinion and in-person consultation with another board-certified Plastic Surgeon specializing in labiaplasty procedures.
In addition, I typically recommend waiting full year to perform revision surgery.

There is nothing wrong with seeing your former surgeon for a revision. If you are still having doubts, perhaps it is not a bad idea to seek consultations with 1 or 2 other surgeons to see if they agree with your former surgeon's recommendations.

As the inventor and innovator of the wedge technique in 1994, I reconstruct many women who have had labia reductions by other surgeons, both wedge and trimming techniques. The reconstruction technique depends on the deformity. However, no attempt to revise your labia should be done until you are at least five months after your past procedure as your appearance will improve, and the swelling will be less. The reconstruction is more difficult than a primary labiaplasty and should be done by a plastic surgeon with extensive experience in labia reconstruction. You need to know if your surgeon has a Iot of experience with revisions, and he should show your photos of his revisions. I published the first and most extensive paper on labia reconstruction in the prestigious journal "Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery" about ten years ago, and about 40% of my female genital surgeries are reconstructions of botched labiaplasties. You may need various reconstructive techniques to give you a good appearance, and not all surgeons are skilled with these techniques. You only get one good chance to reconstruct you, so be patient and ask a lot of questions and seek other opinions.

"Not desirable" is not sufficient info to provide an opinion. Post a photo, mark the areas that bother you, and explain how you want them to look. Only then will anyone be able to provide you with useful information.

It's natural to have second thoughts. It is not uncommon for labiaplasty procedures to need a slight revision to achieve that "perfect look". You should ask your surgeon if he is experienced in revision labiaplasties. In my own practice, approximately 5% of patients request a revision. I don't charge a fee for my time to perform the revision, and in fact I encourage it since I want my patients fully satisfied. After their answer you should trust your gut and seek out a second opinion if you are still not comfortable with proceeding.
