I couldn’t be happier with my experience with Dr. Shashoua. He is an extraordinary urogynecologist whose expertise made everything simple and without complications. My recovery was smooth and excellent, with absolutely no complaints. From Brittany to every member of the team, the care I received from day one was exceptional. I’m truly grateful for their professionalism, kindness, and dedication. Thank you for your outstanding work and for making this such a positive experience
Wonderful experience from start to finish. Dr. Shashoua and his amazing staff made my experience very comfortable. I am thrilled with my results and the excellent care I received from Dr. Shashoua and his highly attentive staff!
Dr Shashoua and his team are awesome! They’re so kind and hospitable and if I have any future problems there’s no doubt in my mind I’ll go to this office. Everyone here takes care of their patients in every aspect and Dr Shashoua does his job very well. Easiest 5 star review!!
I can honestly say, I did a ton of research! I saw a total of 4 different doctors before deciding Austin Urology was where I was suppose to be. From the on phone consults, to walking through the doors the first time, I knew this was where I should be and I would have top notch care. Brittany, Noel, Julianna were all amazing. True angels at their jobs. What a gift they each have. They truly ease your mind and anxiety. Their loving spirits make the entire process as smooth as possible. Dr. Shashoua is so professional, personable and kind. From pre op, surgery day and post op, he listens and takes such great care of you. I’m in this position because of a physician I put total confidence in after breast cancer. I was improperly dosed with hormone pellets causing my clitoris to enlarge, change size, cause debilitating friction daily and my clitoral good to lengthen. As an athlete (runner) it has been nearly two years of misery. Not to mention the embarrassment I have felt and struggles with intimacy. I am forever thankful to Austin Urogynecology for giving me my life back. They are all truly the best! I traveled very far to come to this practice and would do it all again.
I had my labiaplasty performed with Dr. Shashoua. I would highly recommend getting one performed through his office if your are thinking about it. Easy recovery, attentive staff, and quick procedure. I was nervous about the procedure but his staff held my hand through it all.
I highly recommend Dr. Shashoua. I put off labiaplasty for years out of fear that I would get botched or have a really hard recovery. My only regret now is that I did not do the surgery sooner! The whole experience was great. I felt comfortable around all of the staff. Scheduling and communication both pre-procedure and post-procedure was easy. I have zero complaints about anything. And I’m now happier with the way I look than I thought I would be! Thanks to the team for everything!!
I had the best experience with Dr. Shashoua and the team in Austin. It was truly a team effort! Brittany is super friendly and positive. Julianna is so kind and knowledgeable. Kristin did a great job with my stitches removal. Noel is so sweet and bubbly. I'm sure there are others I'm missing, but wanted to express my gratitude. I was extremely nervous going into the procedure, but the team took the time to do a consultation with me and a pre-op call to go over my questions. The actual process was nowhere nearly as bad as I thought it would be - the team in office made me feel so comfortable and created a positive, relaxing environment. They let me connect my phone to the speaker to play music and made sure I felt safe the entire time. My recovery process was definitely painful as I'm currently slowly still recovering, but at my 6 weeks follow up today, the team reassured me I'm on track to a positive, healthy recovery. Overall, I'm definitely happy I made this decision and can't wait to experience the benefits and higher quality of life! I'm grateful to have access to this team and for the great work they do to improve the lives of so many people. Thank you!
There were a few things I was not happy about during my procedure… he let the resident doctor stitch me up (and she did a very sloppy job). I asked him not to let anyone “practice” on me, but he did anyway. Thank god one of the skilled nurse practitioners was there to take over and stitched up the other side. I was also a bit uncomfortable with this med student (young male) who cleaned me up beforehand without a female present. He was kind and professional but I still felt weird. Despite all that I’m overall happy with my results and my decision to go to Dr. Shashoua.
I can't explain in words how wonderful this surgeon and his staff are. They helped with all my questions and concerns, they gave me their honest feedback when it came to my surgery, and let me tell you my post op surgery results from my labiaplasty are phenomenal! I 100% percent recommend Dr. Shashousa!!
My experience here was incredible! Dr. Shashoua and his team are wonderful. Every person I have interacted with has been so kind, compassionate, and helpful. Kristen, Julianna, Noel, and Brittany are the absolute best. They are patient and warm, and there is a reason they have all been here for so long. The work Dr. Shashoua performed is exactly what I wanted, and exactly how I envisioned it. He did a labiaplasty, clitoral hood reduction, clitoropexy, and a little bit of work on the perineum. He did a stellar job. If you are experiencing discomfort due to issues with your vulva/vagina/perineum, or even for cosmetic issues in those areas, I recommend booking with Dr. Shashoua. My quality of life has increased already, and I'm so grateful I didn't wait any longer. I initially went to another office for a consultation, and it was not a great experience. It was double the price, and half of the work was included in that price. Dr.Shashoua is very reasonably priced, and he gave me results that some people are paying up to at least $30k for in LA. If you are thinking of traveling to do this, do it! It sounds strange to say this was a fun experience, but aside from the first few days of surgery, and having to rest too much, it genuinely has been. Thank you to Dr. Shashoua and his office staff, you were all truly wonderful.
Thank you for reaching out! There are multiple nonsurgical options for tightening majora and minora tissue and each will work slightly differently depending on the method. An important thing to note with nonsurgical treatment methods is that they are typically not permanent and require treatments be performed once or twice a year. If you are seeking definitive management of the loose tissue then surgical excision of the excess tissue would be recommended. This would be in the form of a labiaplasty and/or labia majora reduction. Typically, the excess tissue at the perineum could also be addressed as well. Depending on your surgeon, these procedures are typically offered in an outpatient setting. If addressing both, it may be recommended to do so in a staged manner, meaning you perform one at a time. If you are planning on surgical options, be sure to seek expert opinion from a board certified specialist. Also, ensure that they are able to show you multiple before and after photos as this is a good indication of volume as well as outcomes. Hope this helps!
Thank you for reaching out, without a photo it is difficult to make recommendations on the anatomy. Suturing the labia majora together would likely cause more problems than addressing your concern. If you feel that the clitoral hood is still enlarged, you may want to seek out a clitoral hood reduction which specifically address the excess tissue of the clitoral hood (this is often not addressed when patients have labiaplasty procedures).
Thank you for reaching out. When done appropriately, risk for permanent nerve damage or changes in sensation should be minimal. Because of the nature of the area it is not uncommon for there to be changes in sensations in the first few months after the procedure but these should resolve with time. Sensation changes that can occur can present as decreased sensation or the opposite, increased sensitivity. Unfortunately, there are no topical products that would aid in the regeneration of nerves, only time. There may be some treatments that potentially (though no guarantee) could improve healing including ESWT or PRP (extracorporeal shockwave therapy) but you would need to find a provider specialized in these treatments.
Thank you for reaching out. Vaginoplasty when done by an experienced surgeon comes with minimal risk. Now, that's not to say that there is no risk. Depending on the degree of reconstruction that is done in the posterior vaginal wall, there may be a risk of injury to the rectum or anal sphincter. Your particular degree of reconstruction would be determined by a thorough history and pelvic exam. As with any surgery there is also a risk for bleeding, infection and incisional breakdown. I recommend if you are considering this procedure, find a provider who is certified and performs these procedures regularly to reduce your risk for negative outcomes.
Thank you for reaching out, based on your photo it appears that you do have some degree of prolapse, which is a relaxation of the vaginal walls. It is likely that your vaginal deliveries played a large roll in contributing to the relaxation. In some patients, non surgical treatments and kegels do help, but this is all dependent on the amount of relaxation present. If you have tried conservative measures without any improvement in symptoms, surgical intervention may be indicated. In order to determine what type of prolapse you have and what surgical options may be appropriate I recommend seeking evaluation with a board certified urogynecologist. Based on your exam your surgeon will recommend a treatment plan to address your specific concerns.
