Question

I had cheek filler done yesterday. One side still looks like a line while the other seems to have plumped up a bit more. Is this swelling? Inverness from the injections? Too early to tell? Both sides look nice but not symmetrical. My left apple of the cheek is smaller. Pic added.

Hi @iris201807. I recommend waiting a full two weeks for swelling to subside. If you are still noticing asymmetry after two weeks, you can add additional filler at that point. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!

It's too soon to tell what your final results will be. You have swelling, which can be asymmetrical, and last 1-2 weeks after cheek injections. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

You are 100% correct in assessing that its too early to tell.  I usually tell patients to let things settle for a week or two before coming in for tweaks if needed.  Its also important knowing where you started - as people often have a degree of midface asymmetry at baseline (that being said, this is often accounted for and corrected).  Hang in there...give it some time and after a few days contact your injector if you still have concerns.

Swelling can be typical and can be asymmetrical. Icing and cold compresses may give improvement. I would wait a full 2 weeks before judging the results. If it is after the two week wait, you can have the filler reversed with hyaluronidase.

Thank you for your question. Since you just had your filler done yesterday, you do not have you true results yet. You need to wait a full 2 weeks for the swelling to reduce in order to assess whether your cheeks are symmetrical or not. It's better to wait 2 weeks after a filler injection to decide to add anymore filler. The right side come be more swollen or needed more correction. Follow up with your injector when everything settles.

Thank you for your question and posting your pictures. It is too early to tell how your end result will be as swelling can be asymmetric. I would wait two weeks and then if you still feel there is a significant asymmetry I would recommend following up with your injector.
