Question

So I Am still dead set on getting my chin implant because my chin is very weak as you can see in the photos, but I also have no jawline whatsoever, and I heard chin implants make your face a little wider, yes? I don't want my face wider. Personally I'm trying to reach the goal of the celebrity Channing Tatum. Is this possible with a chin implant, or would I need a chin implant and mandibular implants also? I'm trying to get a square chin also. Thanks. Appreciate the help.

The use of jaw implants, such as angle implants and wrap around jaw implants, is becoming more common in an effort to achieve a lower facial effect that is more than just a horizontal increase in chin projection. What you are seeking can not be achieved with a chin implant alone as by your own admission your lower jaw issue is a comprehensive one and not just a chin problem. In reality you need a custom wrap around jawline implant to remotely come close to your desired facial appearance change. At the least you need to consider combining standard shaped chin and jaw angle implants.

Thank you for this question.  In your photographs, it does appear that your chin is recessed on side view.  A chin implant will definitely help improve your profile.  Chin implants come in many different varieties, and your surgeon will select the best implant to fit the aesthetic you desire. Your surgeon should also examine how your teeth come together as this plays a role in deciding upon the correct procedure to augment your chin.Regarding mandibular implants, these implants are placed at the back of the jaw at the angle. Usually a chin implant will get most of what you want. In 40 years of practice, I have never seen a jaw implant used, no requests and i never did one. I have done well over 1,000 chin implants with excellent results. There can be anatomic issues with the neck, such as a  low hyoid bone or accumulation of fat in the neck, which can give the look of a poor jaw line. Fat can be removed by liposuction, if needed.
