How long does it take for intraoral incision to heal? Accidentally pulled chin implant sutures.

Question

25 days post op from an intraoral chin implant. I accidentally pulled my (dissolveable) sutures which really hurt, and now I have a huge bump on the incision site. How long after surgery can I still get infections? And how long will the sutures last?

25 days after your chin implant surgery your intraoral incision should be healed.  If you have developed pain and swelling after your incision was traumatized then you should seek immediate treatment from your plastic surgeon.

It can take upwards of 2 weeks to a month for an intramural incision to heal.  The bump on your incision site will likely last an extended period of time.  Without having seen it, my guess is this is an area of granulation tissue or scar tissue that will take some time to settle down.  If your incision is not open, I wouldn't worry too much about the incision healing issue.  If it does become extremely painful, begins draining or opens up you need to see your surgeon as those can be signs of infection.  Typically the critical infection period is between 1-7 weeks for implants of all types.  Hope this helps; Sounds like you're doing well!
