My ear split from earrings, how much does it cost to get fixed?

Hello. You can have your earlobes repaired. Most surgeons do this procedure in the office. The cost is approximately $500 to $1000 per ear. This procedure can fix a split lobe or stretched and enlarged piercing holes. After you are fully healed from the procedure you can have your earlobes re-pierced.

Earlobe repair is a common procedure in our plastic surgery office. I employ a technique that involves removing the excess scar tissue and reapproximating the tissue planes in multiple layers to recontour the earlobe after gauges, torn earlobes, or stretched out earlobes. Sometimes, the same procedure is used to restore contour to a pixie ear after facelift surgery or facial surgery. Gauge correction is a popular treatment. Insurance typically does not cover the procedure in California, but it all depends on your insurance policy. Costs are typically between six hundred dollars and one thousand dollars depending on the complexity of the repair. Pixie ear repair involves correction of the facelift flap and is a more complex procedure that requires anesthesia. Aftercare for earlobe repair involves proper wound care, Plato’s Scar Serum at least twice daily, with repiercing of the earlobe if requested, in 6 weeks. It is best to have a plastic surgeon perform the procedure and help with scars in the post-procedure period. Plato’s Scar Serum, wound care, and Neosporin are used.

This is a common procedure that most people don’t even know is an option.This can typically be done in the office under local anesthesia. Usually there are no drains, no outside stitches, and patients can go out in public the same day, although I usually recommend they low for the first couple days. Most of the initial swelling is from the numbing medicine and your body absorbs it within the first 4-6 hours. Obviously the body heals with swelling and inflammation and usually that maxes out at two days and then starts getting better. Most of these patients take no pain medicine and usually feel very comfortable going out in public within a few days.  I usually call my patients the night of surgery and check on them the next day. If everything is fine the next day, I then let them shower and they do not need a dressing over their incisions. They can usually start using make up after a few days.  At the two week check up, I usually have people start working out and then after six weeks they can do whatever they want. I routinely tell people to take a few days to a week off work and to hide out but some people are very nervous especially celebrities and I usually tell them to hide out for two weeks. As with any scar on the human body, initially scars are red, hard and raised and it typically takes six months to a year for them to become a soft thin white line. Additionally with recovery, there're many things we do to expedite healing such as nerve blocks during surgery, oral supplements, skin care and scar therapy recommendations, lymphatic massage sessions that are included in our pricing.I strongly feel that it's very important to have an honest conversation with your surgeon about your particular situation, lifestyle, work environment and specifically which procedures you're having done so that you both have the most honest answer about your recovery and are realistic with expectations and results.I would recommend that you see a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area that is a member of both ASPS & ASAPS and performs a lot of otoplasty and split earlobe surgery.I hope this helps and wish you all the best in your surgery and event. Torn or partially torn ear lobes are commonly encountered by plastic surgeons.  The average cost in my area is around $750 for repair of one ear lobe.  Prices can vary significantly by region so you should call a few board certified plastic surgeons in your area to get an exact price.

I usually perform split earlobe repair under local anesthesia and recommend waiting two months before repiercing.  Cost in our practice is $650 per side.

The cost of any surgery varies greatly from region and plastic surgeon. I suggest you call various practices in your area and compare cost and expertise. For instance, in my private clinic in Montreal Canada, the cost to repair an earlobe split is 1490$ +tax for one ear and 1990$ + tax for both.

In addition to regional discrepancies, pricing for earlobe repair can be vary depending on the extent of injury, whether one or both ears are in need of repair, and if there are multiple piercing holes in the earlobe.  For a single repair of a complete split or elongated piercing hole, surgical repair will run about $500 which includes repiercing after the area has sufficiently healed.  Consult a board certified plastic surgeon with experience for optimal results.  Best of luck.

Thanks for your question.  Clefts in the earlobes or the piercings stretching out are a very common problem.  Usually one or both sides can be fixed in the office with a local anesthetic only.  The cost will vary depending upon the region you live in.  Please contact your local plastic surgeon and their office should be able to give you an estimate for the repair.
