I typically have my patients stop all smoking of cigarettes and marijuana for six weeks before and six weeks after a procedure. This ensures proper blood flow and therefore proper wound healing to the affected areas.
Hello, smoking marijuana and/or cigarettes in large amounts could potentially impact on wound healing. That stated, earlobe repair surgery is a minor procedure so generally the risk of significant healing problems is low even for smokers. I'd suggest discussing with your surgeon all recreational and/or medical drugs you're taking since they should be the source of advice regarding your procedure.
Thank you for your question. Smoking cigarettes or marijuana or drinking alcohol can be very negative on your healing process. This affects the blood supply getting to the area, therefore can cause wound breakdown and delay in healing. All The Best
Thank you for your question.Every plastic surgery office has their own set of pre and post operative instructions that they recommend their patients follow. It is most important to follow the instructions of your surgeon.
Overall, smoking cigarettes or marijuana isn't great for your health and can effect healing in some people. With that said, this is a minor procedure so most likely you would still heal normally. Good nutrition and overall health can often improve healing time and results, so it is best to maintain a healthy lifestyle before any procedure.
Smoking cigarettes would be a bad idea because nicotine causes your blood vessels to constrict, but marijuana can actually cause vasodilation, which theoretically(stress the theoretical) may improve blood flow. I don't know about improved healing, but it should be safe at least.
