Why is my columella flat hard and pointed highly upwards ? (photo)

Question

My columella is still very numb at 12 weeks post op and it is also very flat and hard. The tip is extremely pointy and hard also directed very upward. I feel like my nose is projected too far from my face , my nose sticks out about half my fingers length from face. Will his go away ? When will the tip become less pointy and columella be less flat ?

Hello,Thank you for your question. You are at a very early stage of the recovery process, which lasts one year. There are massage techniques that can soften the tip of your nose. You are advised to follow up your plastic surgeon. Best regards

However, there is still swelling and it's too early to make any conclusions.The recovery time after a Rhinoplasty is up to one year. Therefore, I suggest you give it some time. Additional, you can also talk to your surgeon about techniques that can help you.

It is certainly true that 3 months post op is quite early and there is much you can expect as the swelling comes down and remodeling occurs.... firmness, numbness and lack of tip definition will definitely change over the next 6-12 months and these changes will most likely be for the better.... structural issues such as tip projection, nasal length-to-tip length relationships, tip rotation, etc. can be expected to change significantly less... while it is too early to consider a revision rhinoplasty, it is never too early to ask good questions and expect insightful answers.good luck

At 12 weeks there is definitely some component of swelling present. I would revisit this with your rhinoplasty surgeon to determine the best course of action moving forward.
