Hello, I'm 6 months post op and I've been experiencing a burning sensation more often when I sit down for more than 20 mns. It use to happen when I was about 3 mnths post op but it started happening again most recently. Why do you think it is happening?
Answer: Burning pain after BBL It was observed that some patients after undergoing liposuction/BBL may have long lasting sensations in the form of burning or localized sharp pain. This is very likely due to blunt injuries of nerve buds, which, in some patients, may create chronic or long lasting discomfort. Massage of painful spots (desensitization), pain killers like Tylenol, ibuprofen, Lyrica may be useful. Discuss this issue with your surgeon. Good luck.

Depending on the surgical technique and approach, there may be some causes of inflammation for a period of time. There are generally predetermined times for a surgery. The early stages of recovery usually happen between the first and second months following surgery, while a full recovery can take up to eight months. Answer: Burning sensaton Dear Sheshenee, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Buttocks pain post BBL It sounds like you are experiencing nerve pain which is not uncommon, but usually resolves by now. You may discuss taking a nerve medication like Gabapentin or Lyrica with your plastic surgeon. This usually resets the nerves and relieves the pain. Best wishes. Dr. Taranow
