I had a breast lift a couple months ago. I got a lollipop scar and they made my aeroelas smaller. I was wondering if I'll still be able to breastfeed in the future? I didn't think to ask before but now I'm thinking about having a baby later on down the line
Answer: Can I still breastfeeding after Breast lift? Thank you for the question. Much will depend on exactly what operation you have undergone. Most patients who undergo breast lifting surgery have their nipple/areola complexes remain in communication with the underlying breast parenchymal tissue. In other words, the operation involves movement of the nipple/areola complexes upwards; the breast tissue to nipple/areola complex relationship remains intact. Therefore, the majority of patients who undergo breast lifting surgery will be able to breast-feed. Best wishes.

Answer: Breast Lift and Breastfeeding The likelihood is very strong that breast lift surgery won’t affect a woman's ability to breastfeed because generally the milk ducts, which run from the mammary glands to the nipple, are not disturbed. Only skin from the perimeter of the areola is removed, and there are no milk ducts there. Rarely, the nipple areola is removed and replaced as a graft; this would disturb the milk ducts and eliminate the ability to breastfeed. However, not all women are naturally able to breastfeed. For more information on this and similar topics, I recommend a plastic surgery Q&A book like "The Scoop On Breasts: A Plastic Surgeon Busts the Myths."

Answer: Breast feeding after breast lift Thank you for your question. It is rare, although possible, for breast feeding to be affected due to a breast lift. The milk ducts remain intact during this procedure as only the areola size is reduced. All the best,Dr. ResultsMiami, FL

Answer: Breastfeeding after breast lift Hello dear, thanks for your post and provided information as well. Breastfeeding after breast lift surgery is absolutely possible. In most cases, there is no damage to ducts and nerves since only skin is removed. However, any surgery to the breast can potentially cause nerve and duct damage, there is still a possibility that a mother could experience reduced milk production with at least her first baby. However, every drop of milk is tremendously beneficial for your baby and there are many ways to increase milk production. Gppd luck :)

Answer: Breast feeding after lift Hello khamptonYes typically after a lift you can breast feed, while scarring around the nipple can affect this. In a certain percentage of patients, around one third, the breast feeding may need to be supplemented with formula feeding.
