Is my post-genioplasty chin too prominent? (Photo)

Question

I am a 28 year old female, and I had a genioplasty about 18 months ago. My chin was moved forward 8mm (no downwards movement) at the recommendation of my doctor, but now I feel as though my chin sticks out too much. Is this just because I'm not used to seeing my face like this, or was 8 mm too much for my face, and is it possible to reverse if this is the case?

The lower facial balance looks much improved. I don't believe that 8 mm was too much. I would not recommend any changes.

Advancing your chin in a forward direction will always deep in the labiomental falls. If it’s already fairly deep, then forward projection will worsen this. In a perfect world the advancement should’ve been done further back on your mandible, but most people aren’t willing to go to that type of operation. Jaw advancement isn’t for everybody and the recovery is intense and the procedure has certain drawbacks. It sounds like you feel like the projection is too much. Go back and talk to your provider about potentially revising it or accept the results the way it is.
