Sports trainer, ironman competitor, nutrition is spot on & training level is advanced.I have no other explanation to this weight problem, all things point to implant rupture.Implants removed Oct 2012.I've had bloods, thyroid tests & all normal range, I've tried plastikos silicon immune protocol, endocrinologists, I raced across the U.S. (3000 miles) on reduced calorie intake to prove to drs I'm not making this up - didn't lose an inch If silicon isn't toxic why doesn't my body function normally?

Answer: When pip breast implant ruptured I gained 12kg of weight. I cannot shift this weight, why has this happened? Thank you for your question and for sharing your story. I have unfortunately not seen a correlation drawn between silicone implants, with an intra-capsular or extra-capsular rupture, and sudden weight gain that was diet or exercise resistant. It sounds as if you saw all the right physicians, and at three years out any silicone should have left your body. I would continue your healthy lifestyle, but can not supply additional advice.

Answer: Weight Gain and Silicone Thank you for your very interesting question and situation. As I am sure you are aware, the FDA exhaustively reviewed all the scientific data available about the silicone gel implants before issuing their 'release' of the implants in 2006.That being said, there is nothing to suggest that a ruptured silicone gel implant (even the PIP) could result in weight gain. There are a couple of questions I have though. If your implants were removed in Oct 2012, did your surgeon do a thorough removal of the gel and the scar tissue envelope? Also, did you have a replacement at that time? These would not account for any appreciable weight gain, but I was interested to know your present statue.Best wishes.John J Obi, MD
