I prefer to remove these lesions completely through a 2 cm incision.

This can be determined before surgery by requesting an estimate of benefits from the insurance company. I personally remove many lipomas in my practice make sure you go to a surgeon who has vast experience. You do not want to over excise the lipoma leaving to much third space where fluid can build up.
