Are my breasts too wide set to achieve cleavage? (Photo)

Hello and thank you for posting your photos. Without an in person examination and maybe even "wish pics", it's hard to understand what you are looking for.... and hard to say with certainty if the amount of cleavage will be enough for what you want to achieve. I still think you are going to get a decent amount of cleavage. Your breasts footprints are not that wide apart. Plus, the implant size seems appropriate for a good amount of cleavage. I would just recommend placing round implants because High and Extra High Projection Implants are usually not as wide. Best of luck!Dr. Miguel Mota

Thank you for your question- it's one that many patients have.  The ultimate results from your surgery depend on more than just the implant chosen.  Your anatomy can have a big influence as well, specifically how close to the middle of your chest the fibers of your chest muscles insert.  If your implant is placed under the muscle, your surgeon will likely place it as far to the middle as possible without disrupting the origin of the muscle on your breast bone.  If these fibers are released in the middle, you risk having a synmastia, or "uni-boob".  Clarifying your expectations with your surgeon with pre and post surgical photos can put your mind at ease.

hello thank you for your question and provided information as well.. based in your question and the picture you showed you are a good candidate for breast augmentation with implant with technique sub muscular with incision inframmary., in your case its recommended get a consultation in personal with a plastic surgeon to determinate how many cc do you need to get a very well result.

There are limits to create cleavage with breast implant placement. Insertion of pectoral muscles, inclination of ribs and chest bone will all contribute to position of implants on your chest and creation of cleavage. In general, surgeon needs to avoid dissection of implant pocket too lateral to avoid separation and lateral displacement of implants. Good luck.

While you do have wide anatomy, this could be lessened with a larger implant. My recommendation would be to visit with your surgeon and discuss your expected results in advance of the surgery.

Thanks for your question and photos.Your natural anatomy seems wide, but it is not as wide as the widest I've seen. Your natural anatomy will limit the ability of your plastic surgeon to create cleavage. However, an improvement from your current status can be expected and you should prepare your expectations to what is discussed with your  plastic surgeon.  

Your anatomical features are favorable for a good cleavage. The diameter of the implants has to be just right, and be aware that under muscle placement limits how close they can be. Make sure that the dimensions and size of the implants are correct for the base diameter of your breasts.

Based on your photo, you appear to have reasonably good anatomy for post op cleavage.  This is based mostly on your anatomy and somewhat upon your surgeon's technique.  Implants larger than you describe will not affect this aspect of your result, and in fact the extra weight may actually decrease your cleavage over time by causing your breasts to sag more quickly.Best wishes

Your breasts footprints are actually not too wide apart and I believe you will have a nice cleavage if the implant pockets are created correctly (with division of the inferomedial fibers of pectoralis muscle). Generally speaking, cleavage after breast augmentation depends on your existing anatomy and how close your breasts footplate is before the surgery. So, if one's breasts are wide apart, they are not going to have a close cleavage with breast augmentation. I would suggest that you speak with your board-certified plastic surgeon for clarification. Thank you for your pictures and questions. You have a wide sternal spacing and laterally displaced nipples, so the result you are going to have is dependent on this anatomy. The only way to get more medial pole fullness is to choose a wider implant, but for every inch you get more medial pole fullness, you will also have to add an inch laterally, making the implant stick out on the sides, because you should keep the implant centered underneath the nipple. The wrong way to try to correct this (and I have seen this far too often), is to medially displace an implant and then it ends up not being centered underneath the nipple and patients like you end up with nipples pointing towards the outside. Make sure you are not trying to reach a goal that is unrealistic and end up doing something you cannot fix in the process.Hope this helps!Dallas R.
