Hello. Just as the title says. I am going to have heart surgery for the valves sometime in the future. I want to see if I can get a breast reduction before then or is it better to get it done after the heart surgery? Is it still possible for me to get a breast reduction at all due to my heart condition? Thank you!
Answer: Health history You can begin by visiting with your cardiologist to discuss your interest in breast reduction surgery. Clearance will need to be given in order to proceed with the plastic surgeon. Your overall health including your heart concerns will need to be considered. It may be best to have your heart condition addressed first and once fully recovered you can explore breast reduction.

Answer: Breast reduction with Mitral valve regurgitation Given the upcoming heart surgery, they will need to assess your overall health, cardiac condition, and whether a breast reduction is a viable option. Heart conditions may impact the timing and safety of elective surgeries, so it's important to have a comprehensive evaluation by both specialists to determine the most appropriate course of action for your individual situation. Coordination between your cardiac surgeon and plastic surgeon is essential to prioritize your overall well-being and address any potential concerns related to the heart surgery. Best of luck !

Answer: Elective breast surgery and mitral valve regurgitation Medically necessary surgical procedure should always take precedent over elective surgery. I would start by discussing your interest in breast reduction surgery with your cardiologist. He/she will be able to advise whether your heart is healthy enough to have your reduction first.

Answer: Can I have breast reduction with Mitral valve regurgitation? Mitral valve regurgitation is a heart condition where the mitral valve does not close tightly, allowing blood to flow backward into the heart. Any surgical procedure, including breast reduction, can pose risks, especially for individuals with underlying health conditions. Before undergoing any elective surgery, it's essential to communicate with both your cardiologist and the plastic surgeon who will perform the breast reduction. They will evaluate your overall health, the severity of your mitral valve regurgitation, and whether you are stable enough for surgery. The decision to proceed with breast reduction surgery will depend on various factors, including the risks associated with the surgery, your overall health, and the severity of your heart condition. Your medical team will need to assess whether the benefits of the breast reduction outweigh the potential risks, considering your cardiac health.Always consult with your healthcare professionals to discuss your specific situation and get recommendations. They can provide guidance based on your medical history, current health status, and the specifics of the proposed surgery.
