Hello, I had a breast reduction 3 years ago and just recently found about an inch and a half long pokey on each end wire feeling object under my skin on the one breast. Can anyone tell me what this might be? Thank you!
Answer: Three years post op I encourage you to visit with your surgeon for an evaluation. It may be a suture end that has worked its way to the surface. If so, your surgeon should be able to address it in the office.

Answer: Wire poking through the skin 3 years after breast reduction Thank you for your query. Your surgeon will be able to give you a better answer, but the usual cause of this “pokey wire” is an unabsorbed suture which can be easily removed. All it would take is a short visit to your surgeon. All the best!

Answer: Pokey wire Hello, thank you for your question. It sounds to be what we call a spitting suture that has come to the surface. Only strange thing is these sutures usually dissolve in 6-9 months. Your surgeon could have used a permanent suture which is why you are feeling it 3 years later. It is probably the suture but to be safe its best to contact the surgeon that did the procedure and have it looked at.

Answer: Pokey wire feeling object under skin Dear Thriving372285, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.
