I am currently a 19 year old and I have been extremely depressed over my breasts since I was a child. They are extremely droopy/saggy and my nipples point downwards. I am a 38C and my mother has the same breast shape. How old must I be to get a breast lift? Should I wait until I'm a mother? I am chubby, but am in the middle of weight loss process. Should I wait until after I reach my goal? I like my breast size and my breasts look fine when I raise my arms if that helps.
Answer: Ultimate Breast Lift(TM) The traditional lift technique involves a vertical scar, which results in nipple numbness and the inability to breast feed. For that reason, a new technique was developed called The Ultimate Breast LiftTMYour breast tissue is reshaped creating upper pole fullness, elevated higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. This technique avoids the ugly vertical scars of the traditional technique, maintains nipple sensation and the ability to breast feed. The weight of the breast is transferred to the underlying muscle resulting in long term stability, even if you do lose weight in the future.Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: I'm 19 yrs old and my breast are extremely droopy/ saggy. Do I need a Breast Lift at my age? I would lose the weight you want to lose. I think it is reasonable to have surgery prior to pregnancy if the breasts really bother you.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Breast lift while young and before having children Though most women with sagging breasts will note that their breast shape worsened with age or pregnancies, some women develop these issues as a teen as you have. In an ideal world, a woman would wait until she's at her goal, stable weight and is done having children before having breast lift surgery. Though breasts will change with age, having surgery at that time lessens the risk of significant changes to the breast size and shape after surgery. Having said that, I have seen many patients who are young, hope to have children in the future, and are really unhappy with the appearance of their breasts. They just don't want to wait 5, 10, or 20 years to be done having children, all the while being self-conscious about the appearance of their breasts. It is not unreasonable to consider surgery at this point, but if you're in the process of losing weight, I strongly recommend that you achieve a stable weight prior to any surgery, preferably as close to your ideal body weight as you're able to achieve. If you do have surgery in the near future, you may find that your breast shape changes with pregnancies and you may want another procedure after you're finished having children.Best wishes.

Answer: My breasts are droopy and I need a lift. I am also planning to lose weight. Lily, I would suggest that you may want to wait until you have reached your goal in terms of weight loss before considering considering a breast lift. There is always a trade-off between improvement in contour and shape and the scars that result from a breast lift. If this is something that bothers you.You should speak with a board-certified plastic surgeon so that he can evaluate condition and make recommendations. Best wishes!

Answer: Droopy breasts but no children - you are not alone. Dear Lilytrev,Breast lift is normally required in patients who have had children or lost weight, however, I do occasionally see young patients who have had neither or those things and just develop a droopy shape to their breasts - so you are not alone. You should consider carefully before going ahead with this sort of surgery as there is the scarring and potential complications to consider, not to mention the fact that your breast shape is likely to change over time, especially if you do have children or your weight fluctuates.I would certainly recommend that you reach your goal weight before considering surgery and talk to a qualified plastic surgeon, preferably one with a special interest in breast surgery. Good luck.
