Lisa was amazing!!! She took the time and explained everything to me and kept me informed about my entire procedure. I am one week post procedure and I feel so pretty and beautiful and have seen such improvements in my skin.
Once again Dr Peters hasdone a great job with my tummy tuck with muscle repair. I'm not going to lie, that first three to four days was hell! Overall I'm extremely happy with my results so far even though most days I'm in swell hell but that's okay because I know at the end it's all going to be worth it.
For the most part, my breast reduction with FNG experience from consult to post op was great. The only thing I don't like are the "dog ears" left behind on my back bra strap. Hopefully they'll be removed soon.
Over the last 5 years, I gained some weight, in which I believe about 75% of it went straight to my breast. In 2019, I started considering a breast reduction and I joined RealSelf. Last year in March is when I got serious about it and decided to start my paper trail of back complaints and digging straps in my shoulders with my primary care physician. My bra size was a 38F.My physician finally gave me a referral to see a PS, but... due to COVID, I needed a letter of medical necessity to be seen and my physician didn't want to give me one just yet. In March of this year I decided to just pay for my surgery on my own and I began consulting with Plastic Surgeons. I went on 2 consultations before choosing a doctor. The first consultation was a male doctor and he suggested a breast reduction, lift and liposuction to my side boob area. The second consultation was a woman and she didn't think the liposuction to the side boob area was necessary due to the type of breast reduction that was recommended to me. She was also very warm and welcoming and I felt most comfortable with her. Her reviews were great and so was her work. I also preferred a woman surgeon, so I chose her. My surgery was scheduled for June 2, 2021. On my surgery day, everything went pretty quick.I've never had any surgeries before, never been put on anesthesia or anything and I was a little nervous at the thought of being put to sleep but the staff was great, They made me feel so comfortable. The last thing I remember before going under was the conversation me and the anesthesiologist had about my career choice. It felt like I was in surgery for a few seconds and I was up and in a chair after. I was in a little pain or discomfort. But honestly, it wasn't as bad as I had imagined it to be. I went home the same day and started my pain meds immediately and I was fine. The biggest issue I had was sleeping on my back. I just couldn't get comfortable at all because I'm a side-sleeper. Other than that everything was great. I was sore but that wasn't a big deal for me. I am now 3 weeks and 2 days post-op and I feel pretty good. I seen my doctor yesterday and I'm healing great. No busted sutures or open wounds! (which is something I tried very hard to avoid) I can now start applying the silicone scar gel to help with the scarring, which I bought from my doctor. I'm very satisfied with my results. I initially thought I was too small, but my breast are changing daily and they look better and better each day. I know I still got ways to go, but I am truly satisfied with my results and I feel liberated! Updated on 30 Jun 2021: My pictures were not clear and I didn't know how to go in and fix them, so I'm re-uploading my review with better pics. This review will be brief but you can go look at my previous review for more details. My Breast Reduction was done on June 2nd of 2021. I was initially a 38F and now I am 3 weeks and a few days post-op. My breast are still in recovery, so I'm not sure what my current size is. I added better photos of my breast before and after surgery. Updated on 19 Aug 2021: My incisions are now fully healed. I want to say my incisions had completely closed around week 4 or 5, although I still had some swelling and discomfort in my breast. Now, I am completely healed and I have began sleeping on my side, which I was able to do about 4 weeks ago. I’m using a silicon scar gel for my scars and have been using it for about 8 weeks now. My breast are still settling and I’m starting to love them even more. I’m happy with my decision. My last update will be at 6 months, just to give you guys an idea of what your breast will look like and how they’ll change over time.
After researching for a Plastic Surgeon for a Mommy Makeover (Tummy Tuck, Liposuction, and Breast Augmentation), I came across Dr. Lisa J. Peters on Real Self as well as a couple of Chicago-based “plastic surgery” Facebook groups, where people discussed doctors and different procedures. Upon visiting Dr. Peters’ website and Real Self profile, I found that, as a board-certified plastic surgeon, she does excellent work. She also has a diverse client list as well as before and after photos (both of which are qualities that were important in my search). I was impressed, so I booked a consultation. There was a fee, but it would be deducted from the cost of the procedure after booking. When I arrived for the consultation, the ladies at the front desk were busy but friendly, the wait was short. Dr. Peters’ bedside manner is unmatched. She listened, answered all my questions, and was knowledgeable. She explained everything, even recovery. Dr. Peters showed me pictures and sketched diagrams to give me an understanding of the procedures. By the end of my meeting with Dr. Peters, I knew that I wanted her to do my procedure. After the consultation, Dr. Peters sent me to Stephanie Calzante, Office Manager/Patient Care Coordinator, for my estimate and further instructions. Stephanie is so kind and helpful, she answered my random emails and helped ease my stress. I had my surgery on May 21st. I arrived at the Day Surgery facility, which is associated with a hospital. The entire care team was phenomenal! I started with Jennifer, who was nice and helpful. The anesthesiologist was kind. When I woke up from surgery, the recovery nurses had excellent bedside manner. But, unfortunately, I can’t remember their names (I was on pain medication). The recovery was rough as explained by Dr. Peters. But, by following her instructions, I was off the narcotics by day 7 post-op. I was walking straight by day 6 post-op. I have never disliked my body. I am grateful for what it has done for me, but being a mom took a toll on my midsection and my boobs. No matter how much working out I did, I was insecure about those parts of my body. Dr. Peters is a miracle worker!!! I am less than two weeks out, and I love my body more than ever now. My boobs sit up! My abs, back, and waistline are sculpted! I am feeling great! I recommend Dr. Peters and her team to anyone who wants a team that cares and provides results! Check out their new location, it is beautiful. Updated on 3 Jun 2021: I have never disliked my body. Im gonna start doing an update every two weeks frm here on out best i can
I was impressed by the photos of the results from Dr. Peters' breast reduction patients, so I scheduled a consultation with her as well as two other doctors. I can't know for certain my results would have been different with another doctor, but based off my experience I would feel confident recommending her to anyone looking for good results and peace of mind throughout the process! I had large breasts which sagged due to weight loss and increased my back pain. Dr. Peters did a great job explaining to me how the procedure worked and what I could expect after in terms of appearance and shape. I was also very pleased with Stephanie, the Patient Coordinator who did an amazing job scheduling my surgery within a pretty reasonable time frame, and answering my questions up until that date. My results match what I expected and wanted going in, and I'm happy to feel more confident and less pain.
My experience was simply Amazing!!!!! Dr. Peters and her staff was so accommodating and great to work with. From the very beginning at my consultation up to the day of the procedure was mind blowing experience. When I look at the before and after pictures I still can't believe the remarkable work Dr. Peters did. I just can't stop looking at how beautiful the work Dr. Peters did. I feel like I have somewhat of my hour shape body back!!! I highly recommend Dr. Peters because she's an Amazing cosmetic Surgion.
24 years after having bariatric surgery I finally decided that the time was right for a tummy tuck and I knew it would improve my life in many ways . I never expected to get the amazing results I got. Updated on 6 Apr 2019: I have fibromyalgia and it did cause my recovery to be more painful than average but I would do it all over again. Updated on 7 Apr 2019: Tummy Tuck collage 6 months before and 6 months after.
During my last year or two in high school, I noticed my breasts were much larger than most. 10 years later, the opportunity to get a breast reduction finally happened! I have BCBS ppo and was able to find a surgeon and schedule a consult directly without going through a primary care physician. In the past year I’ve maintained a normal weight, exercised regularity, went under chiropractic care for 6 months with no real results. I was at first worried that I would rejected because I didn’t have a long documented history, but it was a shot. I met with the surgeon at the end of June and he my paperwork submitted that day. My surgery was initially denied and then approved a month later. I’m scheduled for surgery in November. Updated on 17 Nov 2018: I’m alive everyone! I went in at 9:45 am yesterday morning to the outpatient surgery center. I checked in and was called back shortly thereafter. They had me change into a gown and took my vitals and had me sit in this recliner. They were all so nice and gave me a warm blanket to wear as I sat. They started my IV by my elbow since my hand veins weren’t big enough (no big deal). They told me right now it was saline but would add an antibiotic right before we headed off to the OR. My surgeon came in and marked me up (that was actually kind of painful with all the grabbing ????). My nurse came and took me to the back where I laid down on the table. At this point, I got a little nervous because I was about to lose control of the situation and given drugs. As I laid there, we were talking about work and family and last thing I remember is the anesthesiologist telling me she’ll give me pain meds and anti nausea when they’re finishing up and asked me to scoot up closer to her. I was out after that. Next thing I remember was being in recovery and the nurse asking me about my pain. The only pain I had was a burning sensation under my breasts. I told her it was a 5/10. Maybe in retrospect it was a 4 but I was worried it would get worse. She gave me a shot of Demerol in my thigh and the pain subsided for the most part. I was pretty awake in the first phase of recovery and kept slurring my words (kind of funny) so after my pain was managed, they took me to the second phase to see my husband. They rolled me over there and helped me into a recliner. Where they gave me crackers and ginger ale. Thank goodness I was not nauseous. One of my biggest fears was my throat hurting from the tube and throwing up after surgery. I think the anti nausea that my anesthesiologist gave me stems from my preop paperwork where I indicated I get motion sickness. The preop nurse also made a point to mention this. My throat wasn’t bad at all (my husband’s nasal surgery may have scarred me a bit when I checked his throat post op). They asked if I wanted to stay a little longer or head home and I chose to go home. My husband helped me get dress and we went home. Things I didn’t expect: 1) pain would just be a burning sensation in the underboob area. I thought my whole boob would be killing me. 2) I didn’t realize it at first, but my chest feels lighter. 3) pain meds are awesome. I’m up for some more in a few and I’m just starting to feel the burning sensation 4) I’m so happy I didn’t throw up!! 5) drains aren’t bad at all. My husband is emptying them and is a saint 6) driving home wasn’t bad (we live 15 minutes away from the surgery center). I had a pillow ready to go but was awake enough to just hold the seat belt away from my boobs. 7) my range of motion for my arms is awesome. I wasn’t expecting being able to get into bed on my own or lift anything (like a heavy pillow or my yeti cup). I can do a lot more that I thought I would be able to without pain. I can reach for my lamp, get my water cup, bend over, use the bathroom, and reach pretty high using my arms. I’ll definitely need to be careful and not overdo it. Updated on 17 Nov 2018: Updated on 17 Nov 2018: Updated on 19 Nov 2018: The itch is real!!! Day 3 post op and feeling really good. Weaned myself off the hydrocodone yesterday and have been using Motrin (200mg per pill) for any pain. Pain is minimal, it’s more like small tugs of pain if I move too much. I’ve checked to see if I bled through gauze, but luckily no. My sleep schedule is messed up and I wake up early (no naps yesterday and went to bed at 9:00pm.) I get my drains out this morning and I’m so excited! A new thing is, my incisions itch now. I went to sleep with a slight itch and woke up itching around my incisions. It’s so hard not to touch them. Updated on 22 Nov 2018: Had my drains taken out 3 days ago and I made it a much bigger deal than it was. It was the tiniest tug and that was it. I went to work yesterday (day 5) for a 1/2 day to relieve the stir crazy feeling. I did feel a little tired but overall was good. I am only taking Motrin (200mg per pill) once a day. My breasts looks so pretty and cute! I love staring at them. There is minimal bruising and they look perfectly round. Dr. Peters said she took out around 1 1/2 pounds per breast. Updated on 23 Nov 2018: I am in love with my results! I first came into contact with Dr. Peters and her office in early June for a breast reduction. From the consultation through my 3 day post op visit, I felt nothing short of welcomed and cared for by Dr. Peters and her office. Every question and concern was answered and responded to and I’m so happy I trusted her with this surgery. My breasts look AMAZING at 6 days post op and I can’t wait to see how they look fully healed!!
When considering body contouring, we take into consideration the amount of fat and the quality of the overlying skin. Liposuction is a good option for an area that has excess fat under the skin and good overlying skin elasticity. If the overlying skin doesn't have enough elasticity to shrink to the new size after fat is removed with liposuction, then we need to consider removing the loose skin too. There are liposuction products available that claim to tighten skin (several other physicians suggested that in their replies to your question), but take those claims with a grain of salt. Using energy-based liposuction procedures to try to tighten loose skin typically has limited success and increased risks. In your case, the treatment recommendation would be dependent on your priorities. If you want some improvement you could have liposuction of the hips and flanks, which would give you a better contour with limited scarring (several < 1 cm scars). If you want to maximize your improvement, you could consider an upper body lift that creates a horizontal scar across your back near the position of your bra band. This would give you a better shape but at the cost of a scar that tends to be somewhat wide when it heals. In my experience, most patients in consideration of treatment of this area prefer some improvement with minimal scarring rather than more improvement with more scarring. If you try liposuction first and then decide you want more improvement, you could always have an upper body lift later.
You would have a much more significant improvement in contour with a full tummy tuck and liposuction could be done during that procedure for additional contouring. A mini-tummy tuck is really only a good choice for a patient who has very minimal loose skin in the lower abdomen (such as just above a c-section scar) and no other contour issues elsewhere on their abdomen. The vast majority of patients who want to improve their abdominal contour and have any degree of skin laxity will do better with a full tummy tuck.
The size of your areola won't change significantly with weight loss. You are a candidate for a breast lift and during that procedure the areolar size can be adjusted to a diameter that's more youthful and appropriate for your breasts. Achieving your goal weight prior to surgery would be ideal, as weight changes after surgery can affect the long-term result of any body contouring procedure.
Your photos are quite helpful - thank you for providing multiple angles for us to review! There's nothing "wrong" with your breasts, but they are small for your body and have very little tissue between the nipples and the bottom of your breasts. This is likely a variant of a tubular breast. These issues can be addressed with breast implants. I suggest making an appointment with a plastic surgeon to discuss breast augmentation and your implant options.
A lift is commonly done at the time of implant removal if a woman so chooses. All surgery has some risk associated, but generally speaking this operation is not riskier than others in a patient who is otherwise healthy. In terms of weight, having a BMI above 25 slightly increases a patient's risk of DVT (blood clots in the legs) with surgery. Typically we use SCDs (pneumatic compression devices) during surgery to massage the legs to lower the risk of blood clots and encourage patients to walk frequently beginning the day of surgery, as inactivity is one of the most significant risk factors for DVT. In general, the best results from any contouring operation will be achieved when a patient is not significantly overweight and when they're at the weight they hope to maintain after surgery, as weight changes after surgery can affect the results of the procedure. If you hope to lose weight, I'd suggest trying to do so prior to surgery. If you're at your "standard" weight, I don't think temporary weight loss prior to surgery would help you that much.
