Hello there!! Not only the weight matter but the height as well. If your height it's over 5'6 you can safely qualify for a BBL.
The eligibility for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) depends on several factors, including your weight, overall health, and body composition. Generally, plastic surgeons recommend that patients have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or below for a BBL, which means that they should be within a healthy weight range for their height. If you are over 230 pounds, it's possible that you may not be a good candidate for a BBL due to the increased risks associated with the procedure. It's important to understand that the BBL is a surgical procedure that involves removing fat from one area of the body, such as the abdomen or thighs, and then injecting it into the buttocks to enhance their size and shape. The procedure can be complicated by factors such as a higher risk of blood clots, complications related to anesthesia, and other health concerns associated with being overweight. If you're interested in a BBL, it's best to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate your individual situation and provide guidance on whether the procedure is safe and appropriate for you. We may recommend that you lose weight before undergoing the procedure, or we may suggest alternative procedures that can achieve similar results without the risks associated with a BBL.
Thanks for your question. At my practice, the max Body Mass Index (BMI) limit for a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) is 35. The BMI is based on your height and weight. You can check your BMI online with a BMI calculator. If you are over the BMI limit, I would recommend consulting with your primary care physician on a proper diet for you to bring down your BMI in order to be able to undergo the procedure. Please always consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Take Care, Moises Salama MD, board certified plastic surgeon
There’s a lot of things that go into a successful and safe surgery. BMI and how you carry your weight, other medical problems and your goals of surgery all have to be taken into account when you go for a consultation. Keep in mind that in general most surgeons will not remove more than 6L of fat during the liposuction aspect of the procedure which is a big part of getting the shape you’re probably looking for. I definitely think you should have an in-person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon who can tell you if they think your procedure will safely give you what you are looking for.
It is hard to say without a consultation or pictures. Typically, it is recommended to be at a BMI of less than 30 and to be within 5-10 lbs of your goal weight in order to maintain long term results. A healthy BMI is between 15-24 with the highest BMI recommended to be around 30. The higher the BMI the greater the chance of developing complications. If you are a good candidate, (often less than 5 L of fat), then optimal results can be achieved if you maintain a stable weight postoperatively.A virtual or in person consultation with a BBL specialist will provide you accurate recommendation and pricing. Respectfully,Brandon Richland, MD
Thank you for your question. Weight and BMI requirements will vary based on each practice and surgeon. The best way of knowing is by calculating your BMI. Once it's done, you can ask different surgeons about their requirements.
Thank you for your question. To provide a valid medical opinion I will need to see pictures of you body from different angles. I would suggest to be treated by board certified plastic surgeon with experience in this procedure, to get the best desired results.Respectfully,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-
Providing that you are healthy to have general anesthesia, answer is yes. However, without loosing 30-40 lbs., your result is not going to be as satisfactory as you would like. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Hello @gejimenez, thank you for your question. Every practice has different requirements for performing a BBL. BMI is one of them to analyze how risky and optimal the surgery can be, in terms of complications that the patient could have or the results that the patient want to obtain from the surgery. If BMI is higher than 30 is recommended to lose weight with a healthy diet low in fat and sugars and thus not only prepare for your surgery, but also start to create awareness to take care of your body when you're ready for your surgery. Dear gejimenez,it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
