Time off work for recovery from Juvederm??

There is an increased risk of bruising in the tear trough area. Avoiding blood thinning products prior to the injections may be beneficial.  If you do get bruising it can be covered with concealer.  Best of Luck

Most people should be able to return to work the day after they receive their injections. You will be able to cover the area with makeup if you desire.The undereye area is more delicate however so bruising is always a possibility. Icing after injections as well as taking arnica may reduce bruising. It is best to avoid anything with blood thinning properties a week or two prior to your treatment as well. It is recommended not to have any significant social events planned for two weeks following cosmetic injections in order for any swelling, redness or bruising to have a chance to settle.Best regards

Facial filler can result bruising.  Patients without a bruise can resume normal activities right away.  Patients with bruising may need to take some time off if there is a bruise (depending on the size and type of bruise).  Patients can decrease their chances of a bruise by maximizing their personal physiology by avoiding blood thinners and perhaps taking recommended herbal supplements such as Arnica.While bruising in my practice is not common, it can occur and typically can be covered easily with makeup when it does occur.  Be prepared for a bruise so that if you do have one, your recovery will be easier.

Juvederm can result in much too much swelling in that area.  You'll probably be better off with something with less propensity to attract water and that won't create a bluish tinge (juvederm can sometimes do this which is not an improvement over the dark circles!)If done correctly you'll be back at work later the same day.  I'd strongly suggest making sure they use a microcannula to reduce bruising.

Juvederm is not the best filler for the tear trough area as it can get quite swollen for long periods of time after the injection.  Better to use either Belotero or Restylane.  Most people will get some swelling for a day or two after the injection. Some will also bruise, and this is quite variable.  Most patients do not take days off from work for this, but I wouldn't do it 2 days before any big event!    

Juvederm can be used for improvement of the tear trough deformity. However, it can be associated with significant post injection swelling that could last several days. Post injection icing and avoidance of exercise and intake of blood thinners like aspirin or motrin for several days could decrease the risk of swelling. Belotero, another type of hyaluronic acid (HA) filler, in my hands, is associated with minimal to no swelling when treating the tear trough deformity. Patients interested in undergoing correction of tear trough deformity with HA fillers, should ask their injector about what filler would fit the best for their needs. 

Filler injection in the tear trough can definitely be associated with some bruising afterwards.  There are many small vessels in that area of thin skin.  Some things that you can do to maximize your results:avoid nonsteroidals (ibuprofen etc) and aspirin 2 weeks prior to your appointment if possiblefresh pineapple can help lessen bruising and swellingarnica cream use afterwards can shorten the duration of bruising if it does occurintermittent ice to the area helps as wellI would plan to do the injection on a Friday before a weekend where you have very little going on so.  Typically people feel confident to return to work on Monday.

There is a good possibility you will bruise after this procedure.  If you do not want anyone to know you are doing this it would be recommended to take a few days off as a precaution.  To minimize your bruising stay away from aspirin/ibuprofen products before your injection and taking Arnica Montana (an herb) can also help prevent bruising after the injection.  It is very important that you go to a skilled injector for this area, but the good news is if you don't like the injection there a product he/she can inject to the area to dissolve it afterwards. 

Keri,Great question- fillers in the tear trough are associated with more issues than elsewhere.That said, most patients are pleased with the results. Here are some things (good and bad) to keep in mind:The eyelid area has thin skin and sensitive lymphatics which make it less forgiving than other areas for injections. While most patients have little swelling or bruising, this can occur. Fortunately, it is rare that this can not be covered with make-up. So unlikely you will need to take time off.You are correct, this is an area where if not carefully placed, the product can generate some real issues. Let your physician know your concerns. Dear KeriThanks for your question regarding Juvederm and Tear Troughs.Tear Troughs is the hardest area to correct and attention to detail and choosing the right provider and product is the key. I prefer Belotero ( Esthelis outside the US) for the Tear Trough as they do not cause the bluish tyndall effect. I ask my patients to stop all medications that can make your bruise and bleed, this includes health food supplements such as fish/krill/flax seed oil and others. I use local anaesthesia with vasoconstrictor ( to temporarily shut the circulation ) use blunt micro cannula.  If you avoid bruising you can go back to work the same day All the best
