I am 56 years old, in good health (post-menopausal) . I'm 5'0 and weigh 123 pounds. I started at 133 pounds when I got my liposuction a year ago in June. I lost 4 pounds with lipo, and the rest was diet and exercise, so no weight gain. My doctor is well respected has great results from other clients. I was told I don't need a tummy tuck. Why do I still look 4 months pregnant? Very unhappy.
Answer: Tummy tuck I recommend abdominoplasty with mesh reinforcement. The mesh creates a more hourglass figure by compressing the abdominal wall resulting in early satiety and helps maintain a reduced weight. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Results Based on your photos and description you should consider a tummy tuck. This not only removes excess fat and skin, but also corrects abdominal wall laxity. Liposuction can only remove fat. It does not address loose skin or the muscle wall. The result of a tummy tuck is a flatter, tighter tummy. Answer: Tummy tuck needed Dear Dazzling, Please return to your surgeon for an examination and review of your pre-operative photos. We do not have access to those and can therefore not comment on what should, or should not have been done, nor the results that you achieved. From the photos alone, it appears that you need some form of tummy tuck, of which, there are many iterations. Good luck!

Answer: Liposuction results To make an accurate assessment of the outcome of a plastic surgery procedure we always need to see proper side-by-side before and after pictures. If you don’t have your formal before and after pictures, ask your surgeon to forward the once they took. There are four variables that determine what the abdomen looks like. The correct treatment should be based on having a clear understanding of which of these variables are keeping the abdomen from looking ideal. The four variables that determine what the abdomen looks like are abdominal skin laxity typically from previous pregnancies or significant weight loss. The second is excess subcutaneous fat. The next is muscle separation from previous pregnancies in the last is excess visceral or intra-abdominal fat. It’s a little difficult to make an assessment based on the pictures, but it looks like you have muscle separation of skin laxity from previous pregnancies. Liposuction only reduces subcutaneous fat and this does not address Pregnancy related changes. Previous pregnancies do not change someone’s fat distribution. Pregnancies specifically cause muscle, separation and skin laxity. A tummy tuck specifically addresses skin laxity and muscle separation and is the quintessential correct procedure for patients who have pregnancy related changes. Patients should not expect a procedure that doesn’t treat the underlying problem to give quality outcomes. Visceral fat may or may not be in the issue in your case. It’s difficult to make an assessment based on pictures alone. My best guess is you may not have been an ideal candidate for liposuction in the first place. Delivering consistent quality Liposuction results is far more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeons mastered Liposuction, including the ability to make accurate assessments and deliver predictable outcomes are in a small minority. Most plastic surgeons think they’re far better at Liposuction than they actually are. Being talented at Liposuction, not only includes the technical ability to do the procedure correctly, but also the ability to make accurate assessments and deliver predictable outcomes, consistent with lots of before, and after pictures of previous patients who had similar body characteristics. There should be no second guessing of what the outcome will look like, and this should be clearly communicated between the provider and the patient during in person consultations, if you’re in the hands of a sufficiently talented provider. liposuction is a deceptive procedure because it seems simplistic to both providers and patients. In reality mastering this procedure is a total lifetime commitment. Being board certified in plastic surgery, with years of experience, and a good reputation does not mean somebody has mastered Liposuction.I sometimes describe the perfect candidate for Liposuction as someone who is “young tight and pudgy”. The opposite is also true. Older individuals and those who have skin laxity or other contributing tissue variables are only going to have partial results. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
