The gauze pad placed under the nose is generally there to soak up any blood and mucous that is dripping from the nose. Most rhinoplasty surgeons will place a nasal splint and tape on the nose to help protect and support the nose during the healing period, however, this is separate from the gauze dressing that is placed under the nose.
Most rhinoplasty surgeons place a gauze underneath the nose to collect any oozing of blood after surgery. It is normal to ooze a bit after surgery and you may need to change this dressing a few times during the first day after your surgery. If you have persistent and heavy bleeding or any concerns, then I recommend contacting your surgeon.

You have not posted photos, so answering the question would be impossible, but in general nonsurgical work on the nose is a good way in select cases to improve the shape temporarily without surgery.
Hi ljones1393,Steri-strips usually do not stay long especially on oily/watery/sweaty areas. As long as the stitch has not been removed, falling off of the steri-strip should not have any effect on the result of your surgery.
