I had a BBL/ HALO laser combo procedure today. I was numbed in the office for about an hour. The BBL portion was first and was reminiscent of some laser hair removal procedures I had done years ago. The BBL was to address age spots and a broken capillary. The laser hurt but it was tolerable and didnt leave me with any painful sensation afterwards. Onto the Halo. Ugh. The pain during the procedure felt like a strong micro needling (it was poking mini holes in my skin so makes sense). I have to say if it was just one or two passes I could have tolerated it just fine. But this was repeated passes... maybe 5 or 6 times over the same spot? It was injury on top of injury and when he said he was halfway done my first cheek I almost told him to forget it because I didnt think I could handle the next half. But, the pain during the procedure was nothing compared to the pain after. I was left with a searing hot pain over my entire face that throbbed. I was able to blow cool air on it for a bit while I laid in the room but I wasnt able to put the hose down without dizzying pain. The kind assistant brought me some advil and ice packs. I couldn't stay long enough to even make my follow up appointment. I drove home with the ac on full blast and immediately put ice packs on my face when I got home (and then took tylenol). After about 2 hours the pain was tolerable to the point where I didnt need ice constantly. My jaw is sore from having it clenched for so long (whole thing was about 30 minutes). Its been about 5 hours now and it still stings/ burns a good deal but I can talk and eat. I wish I had done this when my husband was home and I didnt have to take care of the kids. Oddly enough it doesnt look nearly as bad as it feels. Updated on 24 May 2019: Well the pain subsided mostly last night. The first 3 hours after the procedure were particularly painful. Yesterday it hurt worse than it looked. Today it looks worse than it looks. Still greasy because my skin cant handle a proper shower at the moment. Updated on 1 Jun 2019: Day 3 was probably the most uncomfortable as the scabbing was at its peak and itching started. By day 4 I was able to shower and lightly massage my skin for some of the dead stuff to come off. Still really peely and dry. Updated on 1 Jun 2019: Most mends are gone from check area but now my chin is starting to get some congestion and my forehead is peeling in little bits its gross. I know acne is a normal after effect but i think when the manufacturers of Halo (sciton) tell you it's a 5 day healing process it is a bunch of baloney. My skin also feels weirdly like paper. Its smooth but the texture isnt as supple I am also STILL a little puffy around the eyes. Anyone else have this? Updated on 13 Aug 2019: Hey sorry for no updates. We had done a Halo/ BBL combo and decided to hold off on the final BBL because I had been in the sun and my sun spots had gotten a little darker. Overall I'm happy with the combo treatment. I had a very obvious acne scar that smoothed out. However... I think it's hard to say how well the Halo worked on fine lines because guess what? I hadn't been using retinol for weeks! So after my retinol routine gets back on point I'm hoping the glow will return. In the meantime the BBL is awesome and really did well on the age spots. I would just not do it during summer months again. Photo is with tinted sunscreen only.
I had an absolutely amazing experience and consultation with Dr. Sultan. Not only are his credentials extremely impressive, he is very kind, caring, and professional. I was very pleased that he gave me as much time as I needed to answer all my questions and go over realistic expectations before rendering any services. He is a doctor that truly cares about his patients' happiness and strives for perfection. I knew I was in the best possible hands with a truly talented artist. Dr. Sultan goes above and beyond and will not disappoint!
Dr. Sultan is Amazing! I couldn’t breath out of my nostrils at all and now my breathing is so clear. The tip of my nose had fallen and my profile was that of a little old woman. I don’t know how Dr. Sultan did it, but I have the cutest little nose now. My confidence has improved significantly, and I don’t have to hide from cameras anymore.
Dr. Sultan is a fabulous plastic surgeon. When interacting with patients, he is professional but also takes time to know the patient. He always makes sure that the patient is on the same page as him and never sets unrealistic expectations for the outcome of the surgery. I had rhinoplasty and a chin augmentation performed by Dr. Sultan, and the outcome was significantly better than I ever had hoped for. After just four weeks, the swelling has gone down substantially and I feel and look great. I am beyond happy with the outcome and how I look now.
Dr. Sultan is not only a very skilled surgeon but a really great man. He created the perfect look I wanted for my nose through his endless knowledge of plastic surgery, his understanding of facial aesthetics, and my own personal preferences. Dr. Sultan has seriously impressive credentials but none compare to how caring he is towards his patients. When I was looking for a surgeon to do my rhinoplasty, I (of course) wanted a doctor who was skilled, but it was equally if not more important that they be attentive, understanding, and kind. Anyone who lives around Baltimore is lucky to be so close to a surgeon who is the perfect and uncommon combination of both aspects. After my surgery, I am more confident in my appearance and much happier in general. The process was undoubtedly difficult because of the immediate pain and recovery but all worth it in the end. I am so pleased with my results and would recommend Dr. Sultan to anyone looking for facial plastic surgery. He is truly incredible.
I was tired of people asking me when I was going to retire and I looked in the mirror and saw that I looked much older than I felt. I'm 76. Dr. Sultan did a laser resurfacing and hit a home run! I look 12+ years younger, I've joined a gym and my friends and clients say I look fabulous! What can I say? I would recommend the procedure and Dr. Sultan to anyone who wants to look 10+ years younger!!
The reason that I had this done, was that as I was aging, I was getting a furrow in my forehead that gave me almost a bitchy look all the time. ( bitchy resting face! ) I gave this some serious thought before going through with it. It definitely was not an in and out procedure, as it took almost 8 weeks to really heal and for pain in the scars/ scalp to subside....but it lifted my brows perfectly and opened my eyes up again.
Every time I would take a picture, it looked like my eyes were closed, so i would try to open them, and then I looked unnatural. I always looked tired, and people would say, "Did you get enough sleep?" I had my consultation with Dr. Sultan, told him what I was looking for, and we decided on the Upper Lid Blepharoplasty. The results are amazing, and exactly what I was hoping for. I'm just 2 weeks out from the procedure, and you cannot tell I had anything done. Although people notice, and comment that I look well rested and refreshed. Very happy with the entire process.
I had an absolutely incredible experience with Dr. Sultan. First, I truly believe that he is not only the best-trained ENT/facial plastics surgeon in the entire country, but also exhibits wonderful bedside manner. You can tell that he truly cares about you and goes the extra mile. My procedure with him was my first surgery of any kind and as you can imagine, I was nervous about anesthesia, the procedure, and the recovery process. Dr. Sultan was extremely patient with me, explained the answers to my many questions, and provided resources that were so useful! Dr. Sultan even made several home visits to check on me during my recovery - I would never have expected a surgeon to go through the effort to do so. With Dr. Sultan, you aren't just any other patient - you are "you," and he takes care to make you as comfortable as possible. Secondly, my results blew my expectations out of the water. Dr. Sultan is truly talented in shaping features to enhance natural beauty. Not only did I not have any bruising, but my swelling was minor. I was up and about in less than three days (for a procedure that typically requires up to 10 days of downtime!). Lastly, his staff are professional, courteous, and thoughtful. There was no wait time at his gorgeous office and I was seen right away. His office was also very accommodating of any last-minute changes to my schedule. I was also impressed by the technology and software that he used to show me my results prior to the surgery. We had several discussions to make sure that we were both on the same page and to set expectations for results. There were no surprises for sure! It's now about 2 months post-surgery, and I could not be happier. There isn't a decision to be made - if you're considering any form of cosmetic facial surgery, Dr. Sultan should be the first person you call.
I started to notice deep lines between my eyebrows and forehead over the years. I was really bothered by these deep lines but I was afraid to get Botox. Dr. Sultan came highly recommended and he really took his time during our consultation and explained everything which put me at ease. The result has been fantastic, erasing those lines that were bothering me. I have been seeing him every 4 months for the last year and I love the results - I look and feel younger! Dr. Sultan is the best - he has such a kind and professional demeanor and I look forward to each visit.
Hi, I would recommend a dissolving agent and/or kenalog injection prior to considering surgery. All the best! Babar Sultan MD
Hi, Thank you for your question. Sometimes it can take more than one hyaluronidae treatment to completely dissolve the filler. All the best! Babar Sultan MD
Hi, Thank you for your question. You can certainly have a facelift after fillers. Its important to let your surgeon know the filler that you had and the location that it was placed. The same goes for radiofrequency treatments or medications such as accutane. All the best! Babar Sultan MD
Hi, Thank you for your question. This likely represents a granuloma. Granulomas or inflammatory tissues require a source of stimulation, in your case, likely a deep suture. Your wound should be probed as well as cultured. All the best!Babar Sultan MD
Hi, Thank you for your question. I think a kenalog injection is appropriate if the surgeon thinks the new small bump represents scar tissue. If the bump goes down from the injection then it should likely be a permanent result. All the best!
