TERRIBLE pain after rhinoplasty.

Question

I am 3 weeks postop. Rhino included hump removal alar base reduction narrowing bone and tip and septoplasy. Recovery went great until day 11. I get this sharp throbbing pressure on 1 side of my nose ONLY that goes down to my front teeth. It's one of the WORST pains I've ever felt. Sometimes there's slight clicking sounds. It last for anywhere between 30 secs to 5 mins and I get it about 10x/day. On antibiotics and have a cream inside the nose that isn't helping. Is this normal? Will this pass?

Swelling after a rhinoplasty depends of the surgery complexity.In this regard, the nasal swelling Post-op It can last from two weeks to two months.To reduce this swelling, I recommend you perform delicates daily lymphatic drainage massage therapy over the face (around the nose) avoid sun exposure, and take pain/inflamation pills, as your surgeron precribe you.Kind regards, Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

Without knowing the exact details of how your surgery was done and examining you in person, it is hard to give you the best advice. The most important thing is to call your surgeon and get seen in person. One possibility that comes to mind with the "clicking" is that the caudal septum is riding over the maxillary crest and not fixed. That could irritate the nerve ending and cause your symptoms.
