I have a job where I have to talk on the phone pretty frequently. I'll probably take about a week off from work, but I was wondering, how long after surgery does it typically take to sound "normal" again? I mean, considering that I won't be able to breathe through my nose for a while, I'm assuming I'm going to sound like I have a cold or something, right? I'm just trying to schedule some work stuff. Dear meganmarusak, If the corner of the tape is lifting a bit this should not be of any concern. If it starts to come off further I would suggest seeing your surgeon for a follow up appointment and they can apply new tape. In the interim keep the area dry. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
