I've read a lot about this procedure because the surgeon i saw said that i have a "short lip" and it is good to cut this muscle, but i don't think i have a plunging tip, well nothing shocking when i smile so... When i asked if it is going to affect my smile he said no. So i dont really understand why it should be cut? I'd like to have some of your insights! Thank you!

Answer: Cutting depressor septi muscle during open rhinoplasty.
Depending on the type of mask and how it secures onto the face/nose, you MIGHT get some temporary compression of the skin of the bridge of the nose immediately after wearing them, but they will NOT cause permanent deformation or alteration to your nose shape. Think of it similar to how you can...
It's very difficult for me to judge from this picture, it could perhaps be that the swelling is still present. I suggest you wait another week before following up with your doctor.
The bridge is in the standard human a 50% bony (therefore solid and rigid) and 50% cartilagenous and flexible; short nasal bones may lead to a 20/80 ratio and mobility of the bridge. This ethnic feature is common in afroamericans, asians, nordic europeans and slavics.
