Can CoolSculpting be used as a smoothing method to smooth out liposuction irregularities (bumps)?

I find that velashape or venus legacy combined with ultrashape do well for liposuction irregularities, or if there is a localized spot kybella injections work great.  I suggest seeing a well trained liposuction physician who specializes in this.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Hi CJA. The answer to your question really depends on the nature and characteristics of the irregularities. This can only be determined via an in-person consultation and evaluation. If you have been left with discrete pockets of bulges after your lipo then there may be some benefit in doing CoolSculpting. We've treated several patients who have been unsatisfied with their liposuction results with great success. But again, it really depends on the individual situation. I would be hesitant to suggest Coolsculpting to smooth out liposuction irregularities.  It may help in some specific instances, but it would really be based on a physical exam and an understanding on what is contributing to the irregularities (e.g. uneven fat deposits, scar tissue, etc.).  I find that a combination of liposuction/fat grafting can help with some irregularities, or if the irregularity is more of a depression, then I have used fillers/Sculptra in the past as well.

is a method that will evenly reduce the fat in the area that is treated. Technically
it should not reduce the irregularities ... but I have had a few patients who
developed irregularities from liposuction that was performed at another office.
They wanted to try CoolSculpting, and it was successful in reducing the
irregularities. Not all patients saw an improvement and the degree to which it
improved was varied, but a few patients were happy with their improvements. So
I think it is a good method to try, but your expectations should be tempered. Good

I have used Coolsculpting on several patients to smooth out minor irregularities left from traditional liposuction. It would depend on the size of the bump or fat pocket that was left, and if the irregularities are actually caused from scar tissue. You would need to come in for an evaluation to take a look at what kind of irregularity you may have and if this would be the best option for you, or if other options would be better. Coolsculpting is a fabulous device for reducing a bulge.  Coolsculpting can fix some irregularities from liposuction but it all depends on the type of irregularity.  An in office consultation is really the only way to be sure.  I have treated patients successfully who had localized irregularities as a result of liposuction.  What you are describing may be too broad but an in person consultation is the only way to know for sure.  Please consult a board certified dermatologist with expertise in coolsculpting.

CoolSculpting is used primarily to kill unwanted fat cells. While it does provide some smoothing to the treated area, we have several other skin tightening and smoothing treatments that may be better suited for treating liposuction irregularities. The best treatment for you would need to be based on an in-person physical exam by a board-certified dermatologist who specializes in non-invasive body contouring. Sometimes CoolSculpting or other new technologies can help to smooth out liposuction irregularities.
