I had upper eyelid surgery almost 5 months ago and the incisions are still pretty obvious when I'm not wearing make-up. I have been using bio oil or vitamin e oil pretty regularly but it does not seem to be doing much.
Answer: Blepharoplasty scar treatment I prefer a silicone based scar gel. I recommend you speak to your plastic surgeon for a recommendation, because there are several good ones out there. Sunscreen is essential and firm massage all help as well. Scars can often take up to a year to fully improve.

Answer: It is important to do proper scar after care to minimize the appearance Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars. Answer: Upper eyelid scars after surgery Scars tend to fade gradually with time. Sometimes injections help improve appearance of scars. Occasionally, scars may need to be removed with revision surgery. Topical gels such as silicone can help. You can read more about eyelid surgery incisions on our website too. Answer: When will scars fade after upper lid blepharoplasty For the first 3 months after surgery, your body is healing and building up scar tissue. This is associated with swelling and redness. After 3 months the body starts to breakdown the scar tissue and the inflammation causing swelling and redness subsides. I have found that "treating" the incisions only leads to prolonged healing. I recommend only a mild hydrating product to avoid further inflammation. The incisions will be fully healed around 1 year. Hope this helps and good luck.
