I had upper eyelid surgery almost 5 months ago and the incisions are still pretty obvious when I'm not wearing make-up. I have been using bio oil or vitamin e oil pretty regularly but it does not seem to be doing much.

Answer: Upper eyelid scars after surgery Scars tend to fade gradually with time. Sometimes injections help improve appearance of scars. Occasionally, scars may need to be removed with revision surgery. Topical gels such as silicone can help. You can read more about eyelid surgery incisions on our website too. If you haven't already, then speak with your plastic surgeon to review options.Best,Dr. Chaboki

Answer: When will scars fade after upper lid blepharoplasty For the first 3 months after surgery, your body is healing and building up scar tissue. This is associated with swelling and redness. After 3 months the body starts to breakdown the scar tissue and the inflammation causing swelling and redness subsides. I have found that "treating" the incisions only leads to prolonged healing. I recommend only a mild hydrating product to avoid further inflammation. The incisions will be fully healed around 1 year. Hope this helps and good luck.
