I had Terino malar cheek implants placed 34 years ago, is it possible to have them removed for a more natural look? (Photos)

Silicone implants can be relatively easily removed after many years. However, there will be visible change in cheek volume after removal, having in mind that facial and cheek tissue in general lose volume in time and that you now have less natural bulk in your cheeks than you had in time of implant placement. Smaller, less projected, higher placed implants, fat grafts, fillers? Good luck.

Thanks for your question. Silicone implants can always be removed, however the question of what to do with the tissue remains. You are at significant risk of sagging of the cheek fat pads once these are removed. Good news is, in most cases, you can remove the implant and lift the cheek into its natural position during the same procedure.

Thanks for your question. Removal of the implants certainly could be done. Usually when I remove malar implants, I do a mid face lift (please see pictures on my website) to replace some of the lost volume. When we age, we tend to develop volume loss and sagging skin, so It is hard to say what else you would need (possible facelift) after removal to give you your optimal look.

I would be cautious about removing the implants in their entirety as there will be some soft tissue sag. Either leaving them alone or reducing their size would be safer aesthetic options.

It is possible to have your cheek implants removed, or have them down-sized. The cheek skin will not be affected, and you will not need a facelift if you remove them.
