I am 9 weeks post op. For 4 weeks I wore a Silagen sphere 23/7. I took the sphere off for one day for a bathing suit and the picture on the right shows what it looks like. The navel is my original belly button so it seems that navel training won't help. Any suggestions on how I can get my navel have a permanent shape like the left?
Answer: Continue with the shaping! Hi! I recommend my patients to continue belly button training for at least 3 months post-op. Silagen sphere is a very good product. This will make that shape become permanent and not just temporary like you experienced. Scar formation may take up to a year, therefore continuing scar treatments for at least 3-6 months will be greatly beneficial. Hope this helped!

Answer: Belly button You are still early in your recovery and can expect more changes ahead. I encourage you to discuss your concerns with your surgeon. She/He is most familiar with the details of your surgery and how you've been progressing through recovery. When you are fully healed if you are still unhappy with the appearance of your belly button you can consider a revision to the area.

Answer: Belly button Dear MommyMakeoverJourney12, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: How can I get my navel to have a permanent shape like the left photo? Do I need a belly button revision?(Photos) Thank you for sharing your question and photographs. I would first allow your results at least 6-12 months to fully mature as the belly button can be an area of persistent swelling. At that point if the area does not meet your expectations a revision procedure may be accomplished to improve upon your results.

Answer: Belly buttons after tummy tuck Getting a natural looking belly button is the technically most difficult part of a tummy tuck. plastic surgeons who get the best looking bellybuttons typically I detail oriented and take longer to do the surgery than those who don’t. Belly buttons very as much as individual people do. Some people have extremely shallow belly buttons while others have belly buttons that go into inches. Originally the umbilical cord went through the umbilical opening all the way to the liver. I see umbilical cord necrosis the remaining umbilicus can take different forms and shapes. Searching types of belly buttons are easier to work with when doing at tummy tuck then others. Generally speaking in my opinion individuals who have deep belly buttons to start with have an advantage for getting a more natural looking belly button as a long-term result from a tummy tuck. Individuals who don’t have a deep belly button can sometimes have the belly button stuck sutured to the muscle while to bring it down to create a pulling sensation to give a natural three-dimensional contour around the mid abdomen. Perhaps a bit technical but this is the stuff plastic surgeons who sweat the details think about it night before they go to sleep. Each belly button is unique and The two belly buttons on each picture are simply different. When referencing left and right it’s very important to distinguish if it’s the left and right from the viewers perspective or the patients perspective. i’m guessing you prefer the open bowl appearing belly button rather than one that has the up-and-down slit. If that’s the case then a revision may be able to convert the belly button towards that look but probably not completely. in the end as long as the skin opening wasn’t made large revisions of bellybuttons can be helpful. The biggest mistake is cutting a large opening on the abdomen and leaving the belly button large followed by not having the belly button pull down on the skin edges. Compared the bellybuttons I’ve seen both of them represent quite good outcomes. Follow up with your provider. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
