I am 9 months post op breast augmentation, and 3 months post op a capsulectomy and replacement on the left breast. Originally the incisions were axillary, however the capsulectomy was performed via an inframammory incision. Now the left breast is more full and round on the bottom than the right and also sits slightly ( around 1/4 - 1/2 inch) lower than the left. I am also still having some nerve pain/soreness also. Is this normal or is something already happening with this one too?
Answer: Breasts The left side is a tiny bit low, but I am not sure it is worth fixing. There may be more risks than benefits to try to try that inferior pocket up such a small amount. External ultrasound treatments and oral Accolate might soften the right side just enough to let it drop a small amount.

Answer: Difference in breasts after revision Dear Forceful54223, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Breast asymmetry Dear Forceful, We have a saying in plastic surgery, "the breasts are sisters, not twins." The genesis of this saying is that most women have asymmetry of their breasts. Having said that, we don't know how symmetric your breasts were before surgery. Maybe they were "twins" and the current asymmetry is a result of your surgeries. Each breast standing alone is quite nice. To more accurately comment we would need to see your preoperative photos and know the reason for your "capulectomy," which was probably a capsulotomy, and implant replacement. The persistent nerve pain/soreness issue is sometimes experienced and can be addressed sometimes, depending on the severity and cause. Good luck!

Answer: Breast shape after capsulectomy Both a capsular contraction and capsulectomy are going to change the shape of your breast. Most likely a new capsule will eventually form and this takes time. I wouldn’t jump to conclusions this early after the revision procedure. I think the biggest concern is why you developed a capsular contraction and hope that the contraction does not recur. I’m not a big fan of transactionally augmentation, and considering the number of patients who end up needing revision surgery the approach seems less than ideal. A large part of quality augmentation outcome is creating an accurate an atomic dissection for the placement of the implant. This is much more difficult to do when direct exposure is not available Through difficult access openings like transactionally or umbilical. My experience has been that most plastic surgeons do a lot of breast augmentation surgery do not favor this approach because of its lack of consistency. I think your breast look very good and I don’t see any indication for ion at this time. Let’s hope your capsular contraction does not recur. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
