Can I have hyaluronic filler after silicone oil filler in lip line? (photo)

Question

15 years ago I had the out line of my lips filled with PMS silicon oil. No problems at all. Now because of aging I would like a non permanent filler to make them a little fuller (especially the ends/corners). What is safe to use?

The presence of silicone in your lips should not affect your results from a temporary lip filler. Temporary gel fillers carry small risks of necrosis, biofilm, infection, and blindness, and these risks are not made worse by your preexisting liquid silicone. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph

It is a bit more challenging because the silicone oil scars the lip. An experienced injector will be able to do this. Look for a board certified dermatologist who is doing aesthetic dermatology.

After silicone injections you are still able to get HA lip injections. However the real challenge is that with the silicone there can be quite a bit of scar tissue which will make HA injections a challenge.

Hi, thank you for the question. Yes you can have HA based filler after silicone oil filler. Scarring from silicone oil can be a problem but I would recommend you to consult a reputable injector to minimize risks involved.
